This is pure crap. Nobody is going to pay Dielman 7 mil per year.

We're talking about Offensive Guard, historically the lowest-paid position on offense. Dielman has had one good season; give me a break.

Who is PFT's source? Anteater? :icon_shrug:

Don't pack it in just yet, man. After all... the source is PFT... and their source is... well... who the fuk knows?

I still think Dielman is gonna be a Bolt next year.

I think right now, all Dielman is to AJ is compensation picks.

Really? Cuz I think we should bag and tag the mofo if he's already gonna get 7mil, it might as well be from us.
And if he does get signed by someone else we get a 1st and a 3rd.

Someone already posted the tag would cost us 9.5 mil. If no one wants to give up the picks, were stuck having to pay him that kinda jack. No way AJ is gonna throw that kinda money on a lineman.

Get that idea out of your head.

And what else are we gonna do with 9.5mil? Sign a couple practice squad players in the middle of the season?:icon_tease:

Its only for 1 year, we have the money to do it, it'll give us time to work out a longterm contract, and its not like we have any other major players to resign at the moment.

I say transition tag at the very least.

No way, man. Dielman's self-perceived value to our team is already inflated. If AJ shows that he's willing to give Kris 9.5 mil, then we'd really have to overpay to lock him up.

Besides, PFT doesn't know ****. No team is ponying up 7 mil.

What else can you do with 9.5 mil?

Did you really just post that?

Hows about hold on to it in case someone goes down and we have to sign someone during the season. You do know htat if we have no room left on the cap, we cant sign emergency replacementsright?

Because we have money doesnt me we have to spend the money right away. 9.5 on Dielman? I say no.

Guys, players had to be tagged by last Thursday (22nd), be it franchise or transition. So get that thought out of your heads. That ship has sailed.

Since Dielman would get paid the average of the top 5 linemen, tackles included, dude would get 9.5 mil if we tagged him. That's ridiculous. No guard is worth more than 5 mil per season.

The compensation for another team signing our Franchise player would be 2 first rounders. We could negotiate lesser compensation, but no team is going to give up a 1st for Dielman and then sign him to a deal that averages 9.5 mil per year. That's absolutely freaking insane.

As far as paying Dielman 9.5 mil for one year, that's just plain retarded. If we did that every time a fan thought a player was worth it, we'd never have enough money to sign players long-term. It's only because AJ focuses on the long-term good of the franchise that we have so many guys locked up to long-term deals.

    The Transition Tag is useless.

As for the Franchise, it wouldn't do anything to help us sign him long term. Say you Franchise him for the one year 9.5 mill. You have just set his worth minimally at that amount. No way in hell do you sign a guard to a cap killing long term contract that averages almost 10 mil per year.

If you want to go less, why would Dielman sign long term at a discount next season after he refused to this year.

The best plan now is to let him walk. No way should we overpay for his ***.

Whoever they put in that spot between Nick and Marcus is going to do well. I would rather spend 9.5 on something else. Last I heard AJ put a dollar amount down and Kris thinks he can get more in FA. I dunno if anyones going to spend that much on him though.

If this were true, wouldn't this be some sort of tamering? Only way I see if Dielman or his agent can discuss anything with another team is if they get permission from the Chargers to do so. And if they did, I'm sure that would have made more of the news (especially in SD).

Oh is it just me? Or did we just sit on $26 million spare dollars in the 06' season?

Any emergency replacement we might need would never cost more then 1 mil. And if they were worth that they would already be playing for another team.
