Citing Profootballtalk.com, MSNBC reported on Thursday that former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher has been approached about the possibility of coaching the Cleveland Browns.

The report said a source indicated the Browns are willing to offer Cowher a contract worth between $8-9 million per season.

Cleveland currently is 4-6 under coach Romeo Crennel.

Cowher has a history with Cleveland. He played with the old Browns - now the Baltimore Ravens - from 1980-82 and was their special teams coach from 1985-86. He then shifted to the role of defensive backs coach from 1987-88.

Currently a studio analyst with CBS, Cowher took over for Chuck Noll as Pittsburgh’s coach in 1992.

In his 15 seasons with the team, the Steelers captured eight division titles and 10 playoff berths, advanced to six AFC championship games and made two Super Bowl appearances. He led Pittsburgh to a victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL.

To compete with the teams in the upper level of the NFL we will need a Coach.

    Fire Norv.

    Hire Cowher.

The days of the salary Cap are going to end.

If the Spanos' want to win, they are going to have to start paying out some Bucks.

Then be prepared to be a second rate team.

When the salary cap ends, the Teams that want to win will advance. Those that do not, will be nothing more than doormats.

Doormats and Second rate teams are what we get as San Diego sports fans.

I'll never begin to understand why, but unfortunately, this is what it is.

There is NO WAY that there will be an "uncapped" season!

Then what do you think will happen in 2010?

And with that do you think there will be a lookout in 2011?

I agree. The Chargers gave AJ the keys and like many of us thought they had a winner (this year). It's not going to happen but I think with some additions (even by subtraction) we should compete again next year. This year reminds me of the 9-7 year when we lost to Dallas in the home opener.

Spanos wants to win; they had a little taste just like the rest of us. :bolt:

The economy is already hurting the NFL and it will continue.
Advertising money is there for (Don't hold me to this) untill 2011. After that????

This is what the Chargers have done for 40+ years since I became a fan. And now they have the NFL rooting against them ie. Refs and lack of respect. Unfortunately by record and performance the Chargers are doomed to lose unless the front office wakes up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
