There are a handful of themes that have now become synonymous with Bolts victories this season, and Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer addressed each of them in his Monday press conference at Chargers Park.

Perhaps the most significant factor in Sunday's win over the Kansas City Chiefs was the contribution of several fresh faces on both sides of the ball. With four starters out of action, rookies Shawne Merriman and Luis Castillo combined for 3.5 sacks. Third-year player Stephen Cooper chipped in eight tackles and an additional half sack in his third-career start.

"The one thing that I think was the most pleasing to all of us was the performance of some of our younger players both offensively and defensively," Schottenheimer said. "Luis Castillo had clearly his finest performance of the season. Stephen Cooper and Shawne Merriman played well as did Marques Harris. They stepped up when we needed them to."</blockquote>
