The big baby got his award. But is was far from a unanimous decision. Taylor got 22 Votes, Bailey 16, and Merriman got 6.

Well, I guess a player can win an award for a position where he was only the 5th best in the league.

It's okay. Now Taylor can spend the rest of his life knowing that he only won the award because Merriman screened positive at the beginning of training camp. No way in hell he wins it if Merriman doesn't miss 4 games since Shawne would have had 20+ sacks.

The other positive is now we don't have to suffer the media backlash that would have come if Shawne won the award this year. Shawne will get his. Soon.

I'll admit I would have rather seen Bailey win it though.

Taylor definitely deserves the award. He played great this season. I just wish he could have shown a little more class and not badmouthed Merriman. Politicking for awards is pretty classless.

Merriman can get it next year. I did not think that he would get it after testing positive, and I think he should not have gotten it after a positive test.

Next year he can be clean and do it all again.

Did you see that 1 sign when the Chargers played the Bronco's

"2/3 of the world is covered by water, the other 1/3 is covered by Champ Bailey"

That pretty much sums it up

I'm OK with Merriman not winning it this year (more motivation for him in the playoffs) I'm sure he'll win it next year (and next, and next...) with 20+ sacks

Even though I agree that players that test positive for steroids should be banned for these awards (by rule) I don't think Taylor should have said anything, I would've rather have seen Bailey win the award (and he's a donkey :icon_eek: )

I agree and let's remember that Merriman is only 22 years old.

Our boy will get his in the playoffs. :bolt:

he has had a great year so it wasn't surprising. I thought Bailey had also made a strong push, as good as Merriman was, it just wasn't his year. Next year it'll be Lights Out for DPOY!

Not hating on Taylor. The guy has had an outstanding season. His comments on Merriman is what irked me.

Taylor, would have won it without campaigning for it. Have you heard anything else on his possible retirement LT?

This will make Merriman good and pissed off for the playoffs. But in the end I guess he has to pay a bit for his mistake and not checking his supps. Bailey though was more deserving than the Fish.

Taylors a ******* crybaby Champ bailey appears to have elephantitus of the cranium, Merriman is the best defensive player in the league, they know it, don't like a second year guy to take the title so soon but guess what fellas he took the best there is title in his ROOKIE season.

Taylor you should have your trophy molded into a sex toy and sew it to your couch this offseason.

I'm inclined to agree and in addition JT is probably gone in a year, Champ is a longer veteran, Merriman is in his second year, trust me Merriman will win it all in the very very near future

    **** that whiner

Hes such a great example for everyone

Bash your competitors to try and get more votes, and if that doesnt work, pretend to contemplate retirement
Never thought i would see the day when NFL players would campign for off season awards

Cant say im happy for the whiner

If anything i think he should of come 3rd (behind Bailey and Merriman, in that order)
