Brad Hopkins is still a free agent, I dont really want to see McNeil start yet this year, and Leander Jorndan stinks.
this is ESPN's take on Hopkins:yes:

Expert's Take: Hopkins is a veteran who has been calling around looking for a home next season. There was some thought that he might retire, but he looks poised to find a home for 2006. He has really been an underrated player over his career. Though his athletic ability has started to diminish, he is still one of the meanest and toughest left tackles in the NFL. He is a very good run blocker and excellent leader on the offensive side of the ball. A team looking for a LOT would be able to squeeze one more season out of him.

I like McNeil, but hes not ready to start yet. A mentor like Brad Hopkins will be good for a young tackle who is not yet sound in technique.

Just holding him accountable to the temple and letting him know his *** is being watched (not like leisure would watch his *** just to clarify) :icon_mrgreen:

I understand that the Chargers need as much help at LT as anyone in the league, that our run offense was piss poor the last two exhibition games, and that we have the money to sign a big blue collar run snorting lineman. And that its all about winning now for the Chargers, just sign the guy with a one year contract, give him what ever he wants, and let him go at the end of the year.
In the long run he helps out McNiel, and gives us a more than decent replacement for Jordan this year. WIN-WIN situation.

I thought Hopkins didn't want to stray from from Nashville (heard him say that on Sirius in the offseason) and that he may still have some medical issues.

I think the guys on the roster for the OL are the ones that will be here for this season, barring adding one because of an injury.

Early in his career he was always hurt, and when he did play, he was a penalty machine. Bruce Mathews usedta bag on'im alla the time.

Our boy doesn't need a mentor like that.
