Broncos’ Elvis Dumervil arrested on felony assault charge
Posted by Michael David Smith on July 15, 2012, 3:53 PM EDT

Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, a felony, on Saturday night in Miami.

Few details are available about what happened. KCNC in Denver reports that bond for Dumervil was set at $7,500, and the Denver Post reports that Dumervil was released from Dade County Jail last night.

The Broncos released a brief statement acknowledging the arrest.

“Our organization is aware of the matter and is continuing to gather the facts,” the statement says. “This is a very serious allegation, and we will thoroughly review the details while the legal process runs its course.”

The 28-year-old Dumervil was born and raised in Miami and spends most of his offseasons there. He is coming off a strong 2011 season in which he bounced back from missing all of 2010 and recorded 9.5 sacks.

That guy is a beast on his own, it seems kind of cowardly to add a firearm to the mix.
I hope he gets suspended for the season.

Is it impossible to spend a few weeks between OTAs and training camp without getting arrested?.........

    Dumb question, eh? :D

Second incident could land Dumervil in Goodell’s doghouse
Posted by Mike Florio on July 15, 2012, 6:52 PM EDT

Despite the proclamation from the Broncos’ version of Saul Goodman that defensive end Elvis Dumervil ultimately won’t be charged with aggravated assault despite being arrested for aggravated assault, Dumervil should be worried about a different kind of judge.

    And jury.

    And executioner.

The arrest constitutes Dumervil’s second incident, and that’s typically when a guy lands on Commissioner Roger Goodell’s radar screen.

Dumervil was cited for assault and disturbing the peace during the 2010 season, after allegedly getting into an argument with a parking lot attendant at Invesco Field. The charges eventually were dropped.

This time, they could again be dropped. They may not even be filed. But that may not stop Goodell from lowering the boom on Dumervil.

In 2010, Goodell suspended Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger after two allegations of sexual misconduct, even though he never was arrested once.

Goodell regards multiple incidents as a sign of an inability to steer clear of trouble. Thus, even if a guy ultimately is able to hire a lawyer who can finagle the player away from the pokey, Goodell may still decide to take matters into his own hands, especially if the league’s investigation indicates that Dumervil did something he shouldn’t have done.

Screwing the Donks out of a second LBer for a few weeks would be awesome, not to mention that he's their 2nd or 3rd best player on defense.

Road rage at the root of Elvis Dumervil’s arrest

Yesterday, we told you about Elvis Dumervil's arrest for felony assault; the Denver Broncos defensive end was taken into police custody on Saturday night and later released on $7,500 bond. We didn't have any other information at the time, beyond nebulous statements from the Broncos and Dumervil's attorney. On Monday, the events of the incident became clearer.

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, Dumervil was involved in a road rage confrontation at roughly 5 p.m. Saturday evening in Miami Beach.

Dumervil and friend Andy Auguste stepped out of Dumervil's Land Rover on Collins Avenue, approached the accusers in the white Impala in front of them, and lifted their shirts to display guns.

Per the police report obtained by the Post, Dumervil was driving, following a gray Mercedes, and the driver of the Impala merged in-between the two cars.

Honking and name-calling ensued, and when traffic came to a stop, Dumervil and Auguste left their cars to provide a more physical and tangible threat.

According to a witness, someone in the Impala threw something that stuck Dumervil's Land Rover.

When police arrived, traffic was still at a standstill. Dumervil was ordered out of his car at gunpoint, and an officer asked if he had a gun in his car. He stated no but police subsequently found a gun in his glove compartment. Dumervil was arrested and his car was towed.

Dumervil was charged with assault and disturbing the peace following an altercation with a parking attendant at Sports Authority Field at Mile High (the Broncos' home stadium) in 2010, but all charges were eventually dropped.

The Post's Monday report also revealed that Dumervil has pleaded guilty in six different traffic incidents since 2006. Those charges include speeding more than 20 miles per hour over the speed limit and driving with a suspended license.

Dumerville and Sandusky... both are on defense, both lifted up their shirts, both exposed their guns in cars, both got arrested. I' just saying how coincidental this is.

Yes, rolling around threatening to shoot fellow motorists has always been my idea of a good time.
