Just goes to show you if you are not good in all areas of the game, your schedule doesn't mean jack sh*t. I would NOT be surprised if we lost to the Cards. It's obvious we can lose to inferior teams when we give up punt returns and kickoffs for TD's, AND keep F-N Fumbling the ball, WTF ???!!!

2 losses in September, both on the road, and we still have to play the Colts at Indy, Pats, Texans at Houston, and Bengals at Cincy.

We are NOT as good as our previous seasons with Norv in 2010. It's easy to see. Slow start, or no slow start. These 2 september losses to inferior teams, in which we "gave" those games away with fumbles, and poor special teams play, just knocked us to a possible 9-7 team in 2010.

Yeah, we're 1-2 with a history of slow starts, 11 straight wins to close out the regular season last year and 5 straight playoff appearances. It's definitely time to give up on the season.

Maybe if norv called better plays it wouldn't have to be so close.

This is a replay of how we always start under Norv. SLOW and we look like crap. Then we wake up and turn it on. Same story won't surprise me this year.

This is the same story, until it stops happening. Then it's just another lost year.

The only thing I didn't like was Norv not calling a running play when they were down a the 2 year line. But the result of that drive is still a TD. We all know that the reason we lost was the damn turnovers and 2 ST's TD's given up.

Nobody's giving up, just pointing out we are LOSING to inferior teams, with tougher games on the road ahead. Also pointing out we are NOT better than previous seasons. 9-7 for 2010 is a possibility that might just be a reality.

Yup. Has NOTHING to do with no VJ, or McNeill, it's the poor special teams play, and the damn fumbling. This has to be fixed !!!!

Everything ranging from 1-15 to 14-2 is a possibility.

Nothing higher than 9 wins is a reality with this teams poor play on special teams. Special Teams can make the difference on a couple of games each year. They can still play like crap on special teams all year and still win 8. Fix this, and we are 11-5 which is more likely the case. Special Teams could easily cost us the AFC West this season.

This conclusion is predicated on the assumption that the special teams will continue to play this poorly.

Things looked just as bad this time last year.

Hell, things looked just as bad this time every year for the past 4 years now.

None of us knows how things are going to turn out. We only know it's pretty much sucked to this point of the year.

That is a better record than 1-15 and therefore falls within the range of 1-15 to 14-2.

    Nice try, though, lol

This year is different. I can see it. Would love to be wrong, but I just think it's not there this year.

This team needs TWO years minimum to compete for the Lombardi.

It will take that long to re-build the d-line and o-line.

Some think that is cashing it in and the season is over blah blah blah.........

This team is in serious trouble.

I dunno our D only giving up 13 pts a game isnt as good your right. Its hella better. And 9-7? Seriously? You can put down the pail, the ship isnt sinking its only taking on the usual water.

2 losses on the road in the 2 claimed to be LOUDEST stadiums in the NFL... Fumbles suck when your the fumbler/loser.

Dont know how much you all pay attention to the rest of the NFL, but KC NOW and for years will have one of the best STs based on whos on that roster. McCluster aka by KC fans I met McClusterfuck, is gonna be great and they have Javiar Arenas another of this years TOP kick return specialist. So I only see one team that REALLY got lucky on our STs. KC got more luck from the bad punting and the horrible field condition. If you walked out of that stadium as you were leaving, the ground was just as wet and sloppy as what was on that field.

Also whats wrong with how high ranked we are Offensivly? Id say that is better than years before averages too.

There isnt a single game in the NFL that a team can completly sleep on. AGS, but you know that already.

We still have a better lookin sched than KC. Also they are burnin their bye early where we get ours at the right time mid season in week 10. Derek Anderson beating SD is laughable to me, and I have been a fan of DA since he stepped in the KC browns game and ran a awesome sideline tackle breaking 1st down scramble that ended with a CLEV win. Ah but that wont happen vs SD DA doesnt even get to scramble anymore, unless he is being chased out of the pocket.

Fans do not want to hear it.

    I do not care.

I earned the right a long long time ago to criticize this team as I see fit.

This team needs a moderate to serious overhaul before anyone thinks about a Lombardi.

The defensive line is a joke. The right side of the O-Line is crap. Fans will use stats like a holy grail and I know what I am seeing and it is sshitt. Embarassing.

Two years is what we need to compete and no less.

San Diego Chargers Team Stats | NFL at CBSSports.com

    Team Ranking Overall Rushing Passing
    Offense 1st 116.3 (12th) 345.0 (2nd)
    Defense 3rd 91.3 (9th) 181.3 (6th)

Not too shabby limiting a top 10 Rush to less than 100.

    Team Stats
    Chargers Opponents
    Total First Downs 70 42
    First Downs(Rushing-Passing-By Penalty) 16 - 53 - 1 15 - 26 - 1
    Third Down Coversions 14/37 13/36
    Fourth Down Conversions 1/5 1/4
    Total Offensive Yards 1384 818
    Offense (Plays-Average Yards) 208 - 6.7 173 - 4.7
    Total Rushing Yards 349 274
    Rushing (Plays-Average Yards) 80 - 4.4 71 - 3.9
    Total Passing Yards 1035 544
    Passing (Comp-Att-Int-Avg) 73 - 121 - 4 - 8.98 55 - 96 - 5 - 6.05
    Sacks 6 6
    Field Goals 2/2 4/4
    Touchdowns 9 7
    (Rushing-Passing-Returns-Defensive) 2 - 7 - 0 - 0 1 - 3 - 3 - 0
    Time Of Possession 34:23 25:37

So in almost every team stat we are leading our current 3 opponents. Also dug this all up for the curiosity of how many INTs we have so far defensivly. 5 in 3 games. To go with that scroll down and we have 6 fumbles recovered to the 6 we have lost. SO no fumble has cost us a game yet that our D hasnt gotten back for us. INTs get offset by the PR ints plus the tipped ball INTs. But we had 5 INT to PRs 4 so we are up one turnover on the season.

Look at the product and put down the stat book.

Listen to what Sid Gillman once said "stats are just a bunch of numbers looking for an argument"

You can polish a turd for so long and it is still a turd.

Lookin at the team stats again, the touchdowns given up by the D is damn impressive. 4 offensive TDs in 3 games. 3 in 3 i know.

Oyea and I did forget to say this is only after 3 games and for us 3 pretty ez opponents. Im sure PM Schaub and probably Cutler will take the higher ranking by ydg pretty soon.
Its ok tho, how many pts did we lose by in both games?? Hypatheticaly take out the 3 kick scores and we win both these games. With a little help from some better called plays/player performance. I kno we still are left with what looks like a pretty sad ST. I dont think they stay in a funk, and I know you have been preachin for a while how our Lines just plain SUCK and we arent goin anywhere this year or for the duration of the dual Line turnaround. Cmon a Star Studded roster does not need Stars in every starting position. This Dline only giving up 1! rushing TD to 3 teams is pretty good to me. But the game isnt about rushing anymore anyway.

I have seen the product, and 2 of 3 have been way above average. It also helps that the 2 that are doing well ARE the main reasons team win games. ST is like icing on the cake. OR for some teams its the absolute only thing that can keep them in the game. We are not that team and I can gladly sigh that ST is not as great as long as the O and D keep up what they have started.

Also prob no biggie to anyone else but WOW PR already has 1k yds in 3 games...

5 INTs in 3 games, 6 fumbles lost to 6 forced/recovered. I dont have the stat but pts given up to turnovers vs scored from a turnover I am pretty sure we are ahead in that category too.

    Trenches win the war.

    BEEF.

We do not need pro bowlers at every position but we do however need BALLERS on the line.

And yes I have said this (need for linemen) since I started posting in Bolt forums. It is like a broken record repeating our lines need upgrading.

2012 and 2013 will be critical years to get what we need on the lines. I do not expect a push for the whole thing until 2013 or 2014.

Special teams is the depth of a team. Depth that our GM and FO has bragged about for years.

Please share with me links to any articles or videos where A.J. Smith or others in the front office bragged about our depth.

I'm not going to look for links but depth has been one of the bragging points for Aj his whole tenure. "Build through the draft" "Stack em 3 deep and let em compete". That is his mantra. One of the main reasons he doesnt spend money on FA reaches. He believes he has the depth in-house. It's been noted on these boards that "some analyst" said that many of our special teamers could be starters elsewhere. A bragging point to our depth.

IMO, this has been an issue for quite some time and we are slowly seeing the results of poor draft selections for the past 3-4 years.

    Thank god we have P.R! :) :)
