Released by Houston. Does he have any gas left?

He'd be a decent acquisition at a bargain-basement price. He's not a #1 any more though. More like a solid #3. He might be a step up from McCardell as a solid possession receiver though.

If it is at the right price, why not bring him in and let him compete for a job in training camp?

Otherwise, cut him and I am sure AJ won't offer him any guaranteed money.

Hmmm...don't know about that Rock. Last I heard, the Pats and Packers were seriously interested in your boy Moss.

    Here's his career stats:

Not sure what to make of last year as he was on the Texans. I've always liked the guy but at this point I want a young proven playmaker at wideout. VJ is cool but a stud opposite of him would make him that much better IMO and I don't think Moulds is the guy.

I still think VJ is gonna be a badass, he's only going into his 3rd year. He has already shown us flashes, both good and bad, but I have a huge amount of faith in the guy, plus, Philip isn't afraid to throw to him in clutch situations. We definately need to upgrade our WR's no doubt. IMO we need to keep VJ in there as much as possible and get a solid #2, then keep EP as #3.

We badly need a Steve Smith clone.

People are being way too impatient with VJ. We'll learn a LOT more next season. Most receivers don't become true #1 receivers until their third or fourth season no matter how highly touted they are. We knew VJ was raw when we drafted him, yet some people act surprised when VJ shows signs of being raw. I do think VJ needs to improve a couple areas of his game, but I'm not at all concerned by his development at this point.

Some people here are completely impatient with everyone we draft.

I agree, VJ is still a work in progress.

Not trying to nit pick, but I don't really agree with that generalization. Look at what these guys all did as rookie WRs...

    Plaer RECs YDS
    R. Moss 69 1313
    A. Johnson 66 976
    M. Colston 70 1038
    L. Fitzgerald 58 780
    R. Williams 54 817
    A. Boldin 101 1377

I know that V. Jackson is kind of a different story because he played at Northern Colorado rather than a big time program. But I think the big time guys put up from day one.

That is true, they did, but what percentage is that of the drafted WRs in that time period? Extreemly small.

Very true... but another fair question is what percentage of drafted WRs EVER become legit #1 guys? Take that number, determine the % that were "highly touted" vs. the % that flew under the radar, and you could probably gague the probability that VJ can still blow it up this year. Now all we need is a statistics major.

I haven't heard of us tendering Floyd an offer that he has accepted. Doesn't that mean he is officially a free agent this morning?

I did not see him on our list of Free Agents. I will double check.

I never said I gave up on VJ. He is going to be an outstanding WR in this league. We just dont have the speed at this position. We definitely have size.
