Not even two notorious postseason fall guys (Romo, Turner) can prevent this

    ESPN.comOriginally Published: January 4, 2010

Now that we know who's in the postseason, it's time to give serious thought to how this deal will play out in the next month. We have once-dominant teams that suddenly appear flawed (New Orleans, Minnesota), heavily scrutinized teams that have turned hot at the right time (Dallas, San Diego) and plenty of familiar faces (Indianapolis, New England, Philadelphia). In other words, this year's playoffs should be as wide-open as any in recent memory.
So here are 10 predictions as the first round of wild-card games nears:

Norv Turner will not keep the San Diego Chargers from winning the Super Bowl: As easy as it is to still question Turner's coaching skills, what can't be disputed is the job he's done with this team. Even though there are teams with better records, the Chargers are clearly the hottest squad in the league. They start fast. They make explosive plays. And their defense -- which had been a weakness early in the season -- has become a strength despite the absence of stud nose tackle Jamal Williams. The only thing this team can't do consistently is run the football, but that won't matter. After winning 11 straight games heading into the postseason, it's hard to see the Chargers losing again this year.
In fact, write this down as a bonus prediction: The Chargers will beat the Cowboys in Super Bowl XLIV.

Meh, Norv a postseason fall guy? His previous 2 gigs, he barely know what the postseason was, and he has a winning postseason record with the Bolts despite having injuries to Rivers, Gates, LT, and defensive frontliners.

I am not arguing with Wade being a fall guy, though

Chargers vs Eagles was my preseason prediction.

Perhaps now I'm thinking Chargers vs Vikings.

Eagles would have to play at Minnesota if it comes to that.

If they played in Philly, I'd take Philly.

Dallas can't win in Minnesota if it comes to that.

    Brees vs Rivers

    Chargers vs Saints

That would be fun to see...

Agree. Very difficult to beat the same team 3 times in one season.

Chargers vs Anyone but the cowgirls.

I hate that team as much as I hate the turds.

How is Norv a notorious postseason fall guy?

He has a winning record in the post season.

The knock on him was that, until he took over the Chargers, he wasn't even able to make it that far.

True, he has yet to win it all, but it's not as though he gets there and goes one and done all the time to warrant a reputation as a standout "fall guy" in the postseason.

Green Bay won't get out of the first round.

And it's not because they aren't that good. Their opposition is just better.

They won't be facing Matt Leinert this this weekend.

How do you figure the Cardinals are better than the Packers?:icon_eek: The Packers are top 3 in the NFL in scoring offense, and 2nd in total defense. The Cardinals are 11th in scoring, and only 20th in total defense.

I also think it would be nice poetic justice if the Packers go into Minnessota and beat Brett Favre.

It's just a gut feeling, is all. I could be dead wrong.

But, FWIW, their playoff opponents were much better on paper last year as well...didn't do them any good.

    I wouldn't mind seeing a GB/MIN playoff meeting, though.

I called it when Farve signed the contract that it would be a Charger, Viking super bowl. I should have put some money on it in Vegas. The packers will be one and done In the playoffs. But you never know the vikings could choke again, nothing new there either.:icon_shrug:

Actually, 11 out of the last 19 times this scenario came up, the two-win team won the third game also. It happens more often than not.

Stupid *** Skip Bayless took it one further yesterday morning saying it's harder to take out a playoff team three years in a row using the Chargers and Colts as his example. I'll say it again, stupid ***.

I'd like to see New Orleans get to a Super Bowl, but I think it's going to be Chargers and Vikes.

Wow, I had no idea that scenario came up that much. I agree with you about bayless. I hate that guy too. He was such an *** when he did local radio in dallas on "The Ticket"

Like I said, anyone but the cowgirls. I think it will be Chargers-Saints.

Phuc the Cowboys. They'll crash & burn because Romo can't wait to get to Vegas .... or Mexico .... or wherever the hell he'd rather be than playing football in January.

Michael Irvin picked San Diego vs. Dallas at nfl.com

before the season and was laughed at.

    Now it can get true.

I prefer Saints to go against us, but I do not really believe.

The fact is that any team we would play in the SB, has a high powered Offense, and a QB who passes for ALOT of yards, and throw ALOT of TD passes.

The Vikings won't go anywhere if Peterson keeps fumbling the ball.:icon_rofl:

Even if the Cowgurls get past Philly I can't see them beating the Vikes. It's a shame they won't get to replay the Saints(1 and dun). Anyway this goes down...I believe we're gonna have a good post season.
