thats the first thing that came to my mind.

I think favre still has to accept the trade. And I'm kind of wondering if they redid his contract. Got to think his agent was involved with this deal. Greenbay will have come out of this big even if they just get a 3rd rounder for him. If its more than that they lucked got hugely considering favre was all but a distant memory a couple weeks ago. Its like a gift from hattisburg(heaven).

On Monday Night Football no less.

The Brett Favre saga will hopefully end now.

Why would bret accept a trade to a team like the jets? I think the bucs are a much better team.

Favre did have a better team in Green Bay. Better set of WR and a better group of corners, and defense overall.

The New York Jets, not so much, although their safety Kerry Rhodes is really good.

but oh God almighty that game with the Jets is going to consist of ESPN kissing Favre's *** for 5+ hours straight. I think I'm reviving the EMBRACE THE HATE in force for that game alone

We gotta get a "Embrace the hate" banner ready for that game.

Tony Cornheiser will most likely compare Favre to Joe Namath in that goofy opening he does.

and follow it up with Jaworski (who I actually like, think he does good analysis work) slobbering on every pass Favre throws and yeah. I'm going to be SO glad I'll be AT the game and not listening to it on tv.

But yeah Embrace the Hate big-time. Need it for two games right off the bat; jets and putzes

I hope John Madden will not be at the game because I am afraid he might make his marriage proposal to Brett on Monday Night Football. :icon_rofl:

I will hurl if that occurs. :puke:

As well I will wear underneath my Jersey the Embrace the hate T-shirt.

I like Jaws too. But you're right, he'll be slobbering all over Favre EVERY play.

Doesn't anyone else think it's funny that the "MADDEN CURSE" continues with Favre. He's on the cover, and yet gets traded. I just find that too funny that whoever is on the cover has something bad happen to them.

Let's hope they don't put LT, or PR on any future editions of the Madden game.

When I first heard the news of this trade to the Jets, I first thought that is NOT a good fit for Favre. The Jets have NO chance in the AFC.

My second thought is Favre asking the Jets to trade him to the Vikings.

It would not surprise me one bit if the Jets did that.

They wanted LT after his MVP season. He turned it down, saying they didn't offer enough money.

According to the NFL Network, if Favre takes 50 percent of total snaps with the Jets in 2008, the fourth rounder becomes a third-round pick. If he gets 70 percent of the snaps and the Jets make the playoffs, it becomes a second-round pick; and if he gets 80 percent of snaps and the Jets make the Super Bowl, it becomes a first-round pick.

I wonder if the Jets can trade him to Minnesota for a first. Then the Jets would have an extra 4th (taking no snaps) and 1st in the 2009 draft.

Wow, wouldnt that be a b***h for GB if that happened

If the Jets did that - they would have to give GB 3 first round picks - see the "poison pill" the Packers organization built into the deal. ;)

NFL.com has some more details on the trade:

The Packers traded their future Hall of Fame quarterback to the New York Jets for a conditional fourth-round draft pick, NFL Network’s Adam Schefter reports.

It turns into a third-round pick if he plays in 50 percent of the plays this season, a second-rounder if he plays in 70 percent of the plays and the Jets qualify for the playoffs, and a first-round pick if he plays in 80 percent of the plays and Jets make it to the Super Bowl .

Schefter also reports that the Packers took great pains to ensure that Favre would not be traded to the Vikings by inserting a "poison pill" in the deal. If Favre were to be traded to Minnesota, the Jets would have to surrender three first-round picks to Green Bay.
