"In addition, while USC head coach Pete Carroll's name has been hot, team sources contend he is not a viable option at this point."

Gibbs could be the dark horse. As I said in another post, the timing of the Marty firing was odd because it coincided with AJ and Deano's return from Hawaii. Gibbs was in Hawaii with the New Orleans' staff coaching the NFC squad. Perhaps they had the hots for him after meeting him their and it facilitated the Marty firing.

Wouldn't in house candidates, Shelmon and Lofton, satisfy the Rooney Rule as well?

I hope SD interviews the best candidates, of all racial backgrounds. Then hire the best guy, regardless of skin color.

The very first question I asked from EVERYONE at the tailgater after the Patriots loss was does Marty deserve to get fired?

I wanted a yes or no and cut off anyone who gave excuses.

The straw poll was almost 50/50 maybe 60/40 in keeping Marty but I was livid after what I had just watched. Effing Marty ..... he fuc-ked up a few times in the game where I wanted to kick him in the nuts.

Ron Rivera is gawd but somehow I have the feeling Rex Ryan is going to be the coach. I am praying it's Rivera though

Spanos fuc'd up bigtime. You can see the type of guys AJ wants to bring in... they are all high rollers who will fuc you over if you make a mistake unlike Marty who says 'fahgeddabatit'. It still hasn't settled in the Manusky is gone. The guy has the biggest bawls in the nfl and you need bawls in today's NFL.

That's absurd. Quit extending drivel that moronic race baiters might use to "substantiate" their idiotic stances on the subject.

    2004?

Sure, it had WASP written all over ..... oh, except for a Ukranian Jew.

Free Agents that year included Foley and Godfrey. Hiring assistants included DB coach Stewart.

The 2004 draft just fell "white" ..... 2003 and 2005 fell heavily towards minorities. In 2005 you have two #1's, an African American and a Dominican Hispanic.

There is no racial favoritism in this franchise. Talent is the only determing factor.

Well, that's a formality, since you can't keep coaches from interviewing for head coaching positions.

Why would we want to bring in a cover 2 guy?

Because he is the closest thing to Manusky we will come to and he is a professional. These guys just want a chance and they will do whatever the fuc it takes to win. Played for the 85 bears and specializes in linebackers. DC experience... the team can rally around him and he will fit right in with the mexicans :abq2:

I think Ryan has the experience in a 3-4, runs a wildly aggressive defense and has been responsible for the continuing dominance of the ravens defense since marvin lewis split. I don't see Rivera having experience with the 3-4

I don't want a "Tampa-2" coach, nor do I want a "West Coast offense" coach.

Those two schemes are like a religious cult among their followers.

Our team is built for power, on both sides of the ball, and those above two concepts are based on finesse. We'd waste a ton of time changing over personnel to meet the cult of "T-2" and "WCO" requirements.

Don't get me wrong I love chubby HC's like Ryan and Mangino but I don't like the Ryan family. Remember Rivera is a candidate for HC not DC... doesn't matter too much what he has experience with as long as our DC has 3-4 exp And besides, maybe we would be better of with Phillips and Merriman as DEs and Jamal and Luis as DTs. Then we can trade Igor :icon_twisted:

The only way we'd hire Riveira is if he let us keep the 3-4.

Fugg .... it doesn't matter. Tampa-2 guys are like a friggin' cult. They'll infect you and change your ****.

Just say NO to the Tampa-2.
