Alright I think it's time to discuss this...

    • On the injury front, cornerback Brandon Flowers missed his fourth straight practice with an undisclosed injury. Flowers played with a balky knee most of last season but still made the Pro Bowl. He indicated upon his arrival at training camp that his knee no longer was an issue. McCoy would not discuss what type of injury is keeping Flowers off the field, or if he would be back in time to play on Thursday. "He's working to get back healthy," McCoy said. "When he's healthy, he'll get back out on the football field." Along with Flowers, receiver Vincent Brown (calf) and cornerback Marcus Cromartie (undisclosed) did not practice today. Guard Jeromey Clary (shoulder, hip) remains on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Tight end Antonio Gates missed the last three practices. Gates was excused by the team to attend his sister Pamela's funeral service on Saturday, and is expected to return to the team this week. Defensive lineman Corey Liuget (foot) and center Nick Hardwick (rest) returned to practice on Monday.

What is going on? Did the dude **** his pants at practice and now he's having a nervous breakdown? Did he pop a testicle? Is it an embarrassing injury, or is McCoy just playing with us? What is there to hide?:roflmao: It was fun at first but I got to admit MM is starting to drive me crazy, don't tell me our biggest offseason acquisition is hurt without details!

Great that Liuget was back, not so great about Flowers and Brown!

When speaking about last years game going against Indianapolis, Philip Rivers said he went on the colts official website where he watched a video of DC Greg Manusky talk about how he's going to attack Rivers, Rivers used that to his advantage where they won 19-9

As far as injuries in the pre season go, I have no issues with McCoy not revealing minor details, as long as they're minor.

Even if Flowers does miss one or 2 games, our depth right now at the DB position looks a lot better than it did 5 months ago.

Of course I hope it's just minor, but what is the advantage of not making injuries public?

    Guy twisted his ankle...so what?
    Guy has jock itch...so what?

I'm wondering if this Flowers thing is a little more sensitive than just a sprained wrist.

Maybe he hurt his wrist signing the contract, those types of injuries take time to heal...

It's not like the dude is a rookie and why anyone even bothers to listen to MM's interviews is beyond me. The Boltstag Compound has been cloaked in secrecy since the new regime took over and you will hear only what they want you to hear.

Get over it you're not as important as you think you are.

Agree to disagree with this;). But seriously I'm asking, what is the advantage to hiding injuries in the pre-season? A little gamesmanship perhaps, are we trying to keep the Cowboys off balance so they won't know who to expect? I'm just interested to hear one moderately good answer to this question.

And also I'm bored, I'm trying to revive this dead forum. :ninja:

"Brandon Flowers has a nagging injury to his left big toe that in ideal conditions would require six to eight weeks of rest to heal. He'll play through it, of course, but he can't recover very quickly from a head fake to the outside to set up the 5 route. The way he'd normally push off with that toe, he'd be all over the wideout. But with that injury, he'll be at least a half step behind...more than enough room for the opposing QB to zip the ball in for an easy 12-yard strike."

You're right it has been dead in here for some time now and I hope it does come back.

Not calling anyone out but MM just doesn't really say anything in his pressers. Even though MM's lips are moving he is never saying anything and I don't mind it at all, it's just the way he rolls. He sort of reminds me of Chuck Noll, another guy that would talk but never say anything when talking football. I just hope MM can have some of the same success that Chuck had, we Bolt fans are way over due.

The best answer as to why Mike McCoy is not revealing any injury details on Brandon Flowers, is because he is not obligated to do so.

His reasoning behind it, I don't have the slightest clue but it could be that, although they signed him to a bargain deal, he is in fact their biggest free agent acquisition. Possibly he doesn't want to reveal anything to worry fans. It may be something that is a week to week injury and he doesn't want that panic horn blaring just yet.

Maybe he's not so much trying to hide it because of some need of secrecy as he just doesn't feel that is important information the whole world needs to know and, therefore, doesn't feel the need to go into detail about it.

If anything, Mike has even become more elusive with his answers to any question regarding the team. I actually like it compared to having smoke blown up my backside, I don't have to listen and I know what he said.

Liuget sat out the end of practice related to his injury suffered last week.. not a good sign.. injury nagging..
Flowers misses his 5th straight practice..
Brown hasn't practiced since July 25th..
Marcus Cromartie, who could really use the extra reps and game time Thursday has sat out a week as well.. He needs to get healthy because he could get a long look with Verrett and Flowers missing Thursday's game and probably the 2nd pre-season game as well..
Chris Watt was again escorted off the practice field.. this guy has been unlucky so far.. hopefully it's just the 'dog days of camp' hitting some of these guys..

Another angle is that the Chargers (and that includes MM) are trying to sell tickets. I suspect you sell more with hope than despair and you never actually lie.

I'm really looking forward to this season with hopes that this defense will be making a statement to the league. As much as I love watching high flying offense, the defense has always been my favorite part of the game. Fear the thunder of the Bolt defense and don't forget to bring your lunch bucket and a lantern cause it's going to be a brutally long day.

I know fans are excited about this guy, but I'm having doubts that he'll make the roster.....

    • As on Saturday, Jason Verrett smothered speedster Tevin Reese on deep routes.

    • Dropped kickoffs again plagued Reese.

Reese has speed, that's undeniable, but he isn't a route runner at this point, and if he can't catch the ball in the return game, how does he have value to the team? Maybe, a practice squad guy to develop, but you wouldn't waste a roster spot on a project player.

Yeah, informing you is McCoy's primary goal right now.

This forum is deservedly dead and you're getting the info you "deserve".

Looks like someone's a grumpy grump again. :p C'mon man flick that switch from be a prick mode, and on to pumped that football is finally back mode.:abq2: I know you generally have very little to contribute to our conversations outside of pointless unwarranted insults, but who are you excited to see tomorrow? :coffee:

I'm kinda excited for Reese and Grice, but I'm really going to be watching Attaochu closely, and Te'o to see if his speed has improved. Sucks that Verrett, Flowers and Watt likely won't play, but better safe than sorry.

Also keeping an eye on this Oliver kid, he may push Grice hard for that 4th RB spot.

Unless you'd like to talk about the triple A baseball team in town. Thank god football is back.

McCoy has made it blatantly clear - unless he's required to disclose something he's keeping mum. Period. There's no upside to letting folks outside the locker room know anything, except to those outside the locker room.

Plus it sounds like Dontrell Inman is making every snap count. Could be in line for that 4th WR position

I contribute at places that are actually run by folks who know football and aren't just in it to make money and provide a place for fanboys to gush.

I wanna see Ingram, Attaochu, Reese, if Te'o has improved, Carrethers, and the DB's in general.

I'm not sure what that means, but okay.

I think we would be remiss not to mention Malcom Floyd to, I really thought he'd retire.

The kinda stuff I like to hear.....

    • Teammates chanted “Ed-die” several times. The honoree, Eddie Royal, is coming off a strong season and relates well to variety of teammates. Royal often stays on the field after practice to brush up technique. He has partnered with defenders such as Brandon Flowers, who sought guidance on catching passes, and with members of offense and special teams. After Wednesday's practice, he snapped off close-range, low and wide spirals to Dontrelle Inman, a receiver trying to make the team.
