Football on his mind, Georgia on his heart

    hanksgiving dinner won't be the same this year for Chargers linebacker Randall Godfrey when he sits down in San Diego with his family – his wife and three sons -- and he thinks about his extended family breaking bread together back home in Valdosta, Ga.

    Big family gatherings for dinner on Sundays and holidays have long been a staple in Godfrey's extended family, which has largely grown up and remained in the Valdosta area. Godfrey says as long as he can remember as a kid growing up he and his family would join uncles, aunts and cousins at the home of his grandmother and grandfather for Sunday and holiday dinners.

    Randall, who played college football at nearby Georgia before he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in1996, has been one the few family members to leave home. He has missed those family dinners, but he had his younger sister, Deidra, as his lifeline to the homestead.</blockquote>
