Marty Caswel responded to a tweet saying it was a heart attack.

When i emailed Chris Ello on XTRA1360 he said he'd heard the same things we were all seeing on Twitter but didn't have confirmation or enough info to take it to air yet. That was before Marty's tweet.

Still not seeing confirmation from any major sources yet but it sounds like it's true. So sad :(

    Now confirmed.

sdutChargers: Former Charger Lew Bush died today, six days after his 42nd birthday. Apparent heart attack. Condolences to a young man's family. (7 minutes ago from TweetDeck)

MartyCaswell: My thoughts go out to the family & friends of former Charger "Sweet Lew" Bush, who passed away far too young at age 42. (11 minutes ago from TweetDeck)

Sirius also reported it as a heart attack. Man, I remember him well from our Super Bowl season and the few years after that season. RIP #58

Sad.. I remember him doing his radio show, BBQ restaurant and when he rented out Natone Means house. Nice guy. It is sad that so many NFL players are leaving us at an early age.

Sorry to hear about Sweet Lew. He was a young man, sadly too many of the guys from those years have passed on at an early age.

My God! 42! That's just so wrong!

p.s. VL, it is seven: Average age: 35 :(
Lew (42), Shawn Lee (44), David Griggs (28), Rodney Culver (26)
Doug Miller (28!!), Curtis Whitley (39) & Chris Mims (38).

Rest in peace, all of you that wore the bolts for us.

    Bummer!

I fondly remember his radio show, and eating good ribs at his outstanding resturant.

The Bolts did him kinda dirty on the way out, giving him only about 15 minutes to consider accepting a proposed pay cut, prompting him to leave San Diego & sign with Kansas City.

I wonder why the Spanos' have never paid tribute to any of these guys. It is sad that these guys play for our team ("One year at a time BS") that brought so many good feelings to the city to just be left out. I wish the Chargers had the mentality "Once you are a Charger you are a Charger FOREVER"

Another member of 1994 Chargers dies young

Posted by Mike Florio on December 8, 2011, 6:55 PM EST
The 1994 Chargers, who made it to the Super Bowl for the first and only time in franchise history, have now lost seven members of the team prematurely.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that linebacker Lew Bush has died of an apparent heart attack, only six days after his 42nd birthday.
Earlier this year, defensive lineman Shawn Lee died of a heart attack at 44. Defensive lineman Chris Mims passed in 2008 at age 38 due to an enlarged heart. Offensive lineman Curtis Whitley died in 2008 of a drug overdose. He was 39.
Linebacker Doug Miller was struck by lightning in 1998, at age 28. Running back Rodney Culver died in a 1996 plane crash. Linebacker David Griggs perished in a 1995 car accident, at 28.
We extend our condolences to Bush’s family, friends, and teammates.

I think Spanos would be smart next year to plan a tribute to the 1994 Charger team, and to Bobby Ross. It would be appropriate for the Bolts to give tribute on that day to those who have passed away from that great team.
