Before my time as an avid Chargers fan (came to the U.S. in 1990 and became a Chargers fan in 1992) but I think that being a former Raider TE, he was still loathed by many Chargers fans, in the context of the game.

I also remember Lyle Alzado from watching some NFL back in England circa 1984-1985. I think that steroid abuse was very prevalent by the NFL players back in the 80's, while it actually had started in the mid-late 60's. I don't know about T. Christensen but L. Alzado was a self admitting high volume user of anabolic steroids.

    R.I.P.

Sad news...... 57 is too damn young.

I remember watching Alzado playing against Kelcher at the Murph..... punched Louie in the stomach on nearly every snap.

Roid rage?...... or just an *******? ;)

Report says liver transplant complications. Many liver failures in athletes from that era can be traced to anabolic steroids, but I'm just speculating in this particular case. In the later decades HGH injections and the synthetic "designer" doping substances replaced the big pink colored steroids tablets that older school athletes used to consume orally.

Yes, my bad...... I was probably thinking of Ed White. I was young at the time, and a long way away from the field. ;)

The playoff win against Buffalo, it was caught on tv and replayed in slomo when Kelcher was punched repeatedly in the stomach by a Bills lineman

Eff the Raiders, but Christensen was actually not very Raideresque by nature.
The dude was a Mormon for Chissakes.
As far as the speculations about him and roids, I very seriously doubt it....just never
seemed like his type of thing. Read also that he had some kind of surgery right after
he retired, that might have sped along his liver failure thing.
Either way, RIP Todd, I'm sure if he wasn't a Raider most of us would think he
    was a pretty good guy.
    Still...:raiderssuck:

Ed White to my knowledge was never punched in the stomach and had it mentioned or shown by the media covering the games. If it was popular, it wasn't known by TV watching fans to be. I'd go with the likelihood that you remembered the right player getting punched but that it was as I said, a Bill punching him. It still lets you be right if that's important

I'll never forget, down in San Diego Three Rivers Stadium, watching Johnny Unitas in his final
1973 season, put Kenny Stabler in a full Nelson, only to have Stabler retaliate with a figure-four armlock,
moments before John Denver rushed in and pulled a "Boston crab" on Stabler, setting the scene for
Kelcher to kick the game-winning field goal.
    Good times.
    Good, hard-to-remember, times.

The only reason I like the Stillers is because they would play the Raiduds at their own game. The Bolts always ended up being boot lickers and it pissed me off. The Duds always had some great teams and players, so did the Bolts but being choirboys as opposed to being football players always created an uneven playing field for the Bolts.

And if a Raiders rabidly zealot fan expressed (while i'm quite sure that a few did) the exact same as yours , say about Junior Seau, in what class would you place him in? SMH

I'm not offended by how mean you are but am offended by how fatuous you are. May all your dead relatives rot in hell:tup:

If Payton Manning retires I would say "I'm glad he's gone", but if a retired football player whose not a criminal dies I can´t say I'm glad

The only good Raider, is a dead Raider. So does that mean my relatives are partying with your relatives?

I'm a Chargers fan and don't believe in hell. But as insane as you sound, it makes as much sense as Team America wanting the people of other countries to die.

And who are you to tell me how to act? I have been going to Charger games since 1970. I have hated the Raiders since the Holy Roller play. I took the name RAIDERH8ER, because I hate the Raiders. I have been kicked out of 4 Raiders games because I am not afraid of those AHOLES! If you don't like what I have to say, you can ignore my posts, I wont lose one bit of sleep over it!

Interesting. And here I thought that my 4 decades + of obsessively following this club,
was the biggest reason I've got for believing in Hell.

Good move, Conc....The sciolist should stick to pictures to express himself until the people calling his bluffs leave the room for good.
