Found this on glorify the past.

Im a bit of a draft geek so I picked up my Pro Football 2010 Draft Guide (Ok, dorky I know but its 7 bucks) and it has an article studying the draft success of a 5 year period 2004 draft through 2008 draft.

It breaks it down into three categories and takes all drafted players and Breaks em into a percentage.

For the chargers the findings were the following

% still on 09 Opening Day Roster: 55.3%. 4th Best in the League

% of which were starters: 34.2%. 2nd Best in the League only to the Giants (36.4%)

% of which were Pro Bowlers: 18.4%. Best in the League. Next best is New York Jets at 13%. This means that roughly one out of every 5 players drafted by the bolts will be a Pro Bowler.

I know its just statistics but these are still amazing numbers. I understand we are all disappointed in the lack of championships but AJ's ability to evaluate talent is second to none. Id hate to get rid of a sure thing and replace him with someone who is terrible.

Until we actually have a losing season i think we should give him the benefit of the doubt.

I wonder what the AJ haters have to say about this?

Who is a Norv hater? Not me. I don;t think he is the best, but he is descent. I just don't think he likes using the RB as a weapon

Hey Denver, what say ye about Emmitt Smith, Ricky Williams, Frank Gore and ahost of others who have been HUGE weapons in Norv led offenses? Maybe we can have a debate over a beer when you move to Denver.

All but with Emmit, Norv didn't have a QB and had no choice but to run the ball. And with Emmit, he was the OC and didn't have full control of the offense, just like Cam didn't under Marty

Do remember he coached Emmit Smith. Who wouldn't have the all time rushing record without him. He hasnt forgot how to run the ball. The O line will mature and be better next year and a 2 new sets of fresh legs. I think no matter what running backs we get. we will be in the top half of the league in rushing. My guess #13-17.
Its all about the O line.

Emmit also had 5 pro-bowl linemen and Norv didn't have full control like he does now. He worked for JJ just like Cam worked for Marty, and both didn't have the ability to just do what ever they wanted. Both Marty and JJ were defensive coaches, but both knew the importance of a strong running game.

I would be absolutely surprised, and would definitely be eating crow if we are anywhere near the top 13-17. I doubt we are any better than #25. I hope I am wrong

It may be wishful thinking. But I can see it happening. If we can get someone who can break a few big runs from between the tackles. We just need some fresh legs. and Our young O line will be better next year

I think we are lucky to have a guy like AJ. He will always have the best interest in the team at the front of his objectives. We are going to be fine next year and will compete to be an Elite organization once again. The key to me is Philip Rivers. He is a dedicated NFL QB and he will take us to where we want to go and thats a Super Bowl. The off season is so much fun I am enjoying all the rumors and different ideas about what should be done. Cant wait for March 5th. I do hope we keep Jamal Williams. He should be ready to go next season.

I bumped into a donk fan( he had a donk hat on) last year at a gas station. He said hi and then saw I had a chargers bumper sticker. He then said he reads our message boards sometimes. That the one thing he couldn't figure out with chargers fans is they are always upset with a.j. smith. That he and his donk buddys couldn't believe it. He said if you ever loose A.j. smith they'll gladly take him as their G.m.. That he'd kind of like seeing the donks winning again.

He must read the ESPN site because that is the stance of most of the 'fans' there.

Because a lot of Chargers fans have only been Charger fans for a short time, or they have short memories.
