There's a realization at every level of organization that the Chargers are rice-paper thin. Said one vet: "Maybe we'll get some 49ers here."

Just wait until they get the Annual Gates Toe, Floyd Hamstring, and Mathews Clavicle injuries. Maybe they can mix it up with a CB ankle or LB back injury this season.

    I predict 5 wins.

Glad I chose not to view the second half as it went from bad to pathetic.

I know it's the vanilla pre-season, but I hope we'll see a more creative coach out there for the regular season. The Chargers looked bad. If Harbaugh was our coach I'd love him but him throwing a red flag to challenge where the ball is spotted- in pre-season, with a big lead- was certainly bush league IMHO. I could see a player punching him in the mouth sometime soon.

    This happens every preseason

Game 1...hey we played pretty well (or at least the starters)
    Game 2...we looked like ****.
Game 3....hey we played pretty well.
    Game 4....we looked like ****.

That's why I've always been against the "exhibition season", fifty years ago it was necessary as guys would leave their regular jobs for the football season. I'd just make the "exhibition season" into a real preseason but only the games count. More games that count against the season, more money for the networks and league and they can still have a final roster cut down. JMHO.

Clearly we're thin in the depth department but are we really worse than last season? Overall?

This will be another tough year for sure, but I feel like we're (at the very least) on the right track now.

5 win season? I won't say it can't happen, it can, but I'd say 7-9 or 8-8 more likely. I don't think 9-7 would be much of a stretch either if we somehow found some luck in the injury department...

I agree so long as all of our starters stay healthy. We're pretty bad off at mike lb though.
Also: any injuries to the OL, WRs, TEs, DL, LBs, Mathews/Woodhead, or DBs, and we're screwed.

Buck up. Right now the Chargers are undefeated. Tomorrow does not exist yet.

I don't know what to think about this year's team. I want to stay optimistic but we've gotten rolled pretty badly this preseason. I'm sure Coach McCoy was hoping for a better showing instead of 1-3 and getting outscored 112-68. But we've had all these injuries and Whisenhunt's Nilla Vanilla offense showed us nothing. In other words... I can't wait for Monday Night... Go Chargers!
