As long as he's ready to go by week 1 I'm not overly concerned.

I am as well if it comes to that.

We'll have to wait and see, I suppose.

If this was last year, i would be concerned too, but with the way our WR has developed, i wouldnt be TOO worried. Chambers and VJ are both dependable guys that can stretch the field and even Manu is a decent pass catcher. Not to mention Davis and Naanee out there.

Now im not saying Gates is easily replaceable, or anything along those lines, but him getting hurt wouldnt kill passing game as much as it might seem

My only question is why did he wait so long to get this done?

Gates seems pretty tough. He'll be ready. I just wonder why they waited so long?

I'm curious why they waited so long as well.

He should've had it right after they lost the AFCC game

Four months is July, and the end of the sixth month would bed the beginning of September, so I'm assuming that something would have to go really wrong for him to be out till November.

    Ditto.

Unless the doctors thought rehab would be the ticket, Gates should have gotten this **** done ASAP.

It pisses me off players wait until the last minute to get whatever torgued or tightened that it compromises the players ability to get it on during the regular season. Conditioning is everything.

The way Gates stays in shape, he'll most likely miss the pre-season and be ready for week 1.

But waiting this long to do it confuses me.

You have it, bucko. Surgery is the last alternative, unless the injury dictates no other course. Treatment starts conservative and progresses. It is likely that the surgery would have occurred sooner if he had not tried to play through the injury and I have to wonder if staying off the field might have prevented the surgery. Depends on the details about the injury. This is the risk of players being allowed to or pressured into playing while injured, and not merely hurt. It's a fool's errand.

We're not doctors man and he still strapped it on in the postseason and made a big catch in the Colts game. What if after the AFC Champ that **** was swelled up like a pumpkin? :icon_shrug: We don't know.

6 months would keep him out until Sept or the end of August. Would that include getting into game shape though?

It's all good you knew where I was going with that.

As long as he's ready for another run in late Noevember early December we'll be fine.

And yes I think we can expect great things from Lego and Davis and I have complete faith in Norv to get this offense rolling.

I have a feeling AJ is gonna pull some more sick chiat this offseason I just can't figure out where he's gonna make the move as far as starters. :icon_huh:

I have no worries that we win the West with or without Gates. As long as he is 100% by about week 10, we're good to go.

Nobody is going to be able to beat a healthy Chargers Team next January. This is our year. Period.

Good point. We have a HUGE benefit and the is that the Retards, Donkos, and Quiefs suck!!! The luckiest break either of them could get is 6-10.
So if it's necessary, let Gates sit for as long as he has to.

Though I do agree that we'll clinch our devision, you don't want to get lower than the #3 seed.

...I'm a bit perplexed as well as far as the delay. Hell Philip took care of his medical issue almost as soon as he got off the plane :icon_shrug:

Gates did play in the post season laying it on the line for the team, much the same with Philip. That may have caused more damage than the initial injury. It sounds like it was not responding to therapy or may never quite fully heal now without the surgery.

I hope he makes a full recovery and can help the team in the SB drive.

Just how much did he sway the game? Plantar Fasciaitis is extremely painful-another of my interminable sports problems. If the problem involves the insertion point, then the problem is really nasty. Get the fook off this nut up crap and playing with injuries. Hurt is one thing, injured is another. I would bet that he wouldn't be having surgery if he had backed or was sat down. He didn't do shite to affect the outcomes of any of his post injury games. Quit drinking the macho kool aid, por favor. Jim Otto drank it. Now he's selling metaphorical pencils.
