    Dombrowski Getting comfortable

Dombrowski feeling comfortable and warming to the idea of playing tackle.

SAN DIEGO – Brandyn Dombrowski[IMG] never envisioned himself as an NFL tackle when he left San Diego State in 2008.
That’s the role he inherited late last season when Jeromey Clary[IMG] injured his foot.
Dombrowski switched to left tackle when OTAs began last week and worked with the first unit through Thursday’s Mini Camp practices.
“I came in here thinking I was going to play guard, but I actually like tackle a lot,” he said. “I’m having a great time playing it and it’s just another position I know now.”
He’s learned to be more patient to contend with the quicker defensive ends rather than being the aggressor against the bigger defensive tackles he faced at guard.
Asked where he’d practice once training camp starts, Dombrowski shrugged.
“Wherever they need me. As long as I can get on the field, I’m good,” he said.
Dombrowski conceded it would take him a little time to transition back to guard, he feels confident he could switch from left to right tackle without a hitch. But he’s more worried about refining his technique in late May, similar to a basketball player that hasn’t taken a jump shot in a few months.
“I felt sluggish and I felt kind of off (last week),” he said. “As the week progressed I felt more comfortable out there and it’s coming back to me. It takes a few weeks, but once you get your body back in tune and in football shape, using all the different muscles, it comes back after that.
“It’s all about technique. (Size) doesn’t mean anything. You can be enormous and get trampled on out there.”
