The way he's playing he deserves his own identity, Bo is a good start.

You know, I can actually type "Oliver" a lot faster than "BO43" because I'm not as adept as going for the number keys as I am typing words.

I think it's Twitter thing or something. I've been over stuff like that for awhile, crap like baseball turning every player into ARod, KRod, MadBum, etc. The whole texting and Twitter things have just made people lazy.

    Now get off my lawn!

It's lazy. I liked creative nicknames like "The Big Hurt" and "The Rocket" and "The Sultan of Swat" and stuff like that.

Now we just plug peoples names into a cookie cutter like you just mentioned and move on. Boring.

Well, he ain't no Sproles. Woody is more like Sproles than Oliver and Oliver carries a big hammer for his stature. The Branden Iron can lay a tattoo on ya.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES! I've been beating this drum for awhile. Nicknames suck now, and lazy is an excellent description.

BO is not some lazy twitter nickname. It's the one Branden prefers. I'm actually kind of surprised that anyone cares enough about nicknames to complain about them.

I do, I have spent hours typing missives about them, lobbying congress to abolish all lazy nicknames, paid millions for billboards, etc.

Either that or I took a few seconds typing something about it in a football forum.

I'm surprised anyone cares enough about others caring enough about nicknames to post about it.

The real question is how has the funding campaign paid off, and how have you spent all the money?

That post was less about Oliver and more about nicknames in general.

A few more seconds than it deserves. But some people will work hard to find something to feel superior about. "These kids today and their lazy nicknames. Back in my day we walked 10 miles uphill both ways to come up with our nicknames."

You've spent a lot more time harping on his complaint than we spent complaining about it.

    Just sayin

Yes, my superiority level has risen to unsurpassed heights due to something I posted at Bolt Talk!

Maybe it's just a general commentary on how nicknames like Air Jordan, Crime Dog, Dizzy, Daffy, Mr. October, The Babe, The Polish Rifle, All Day, Black Mamba, Broadway Joe, etc., etc. are more clever, creative and interesting than just truncating a dude's name. Sorry it caused you so much butt hurt.

Anyway, back the the original topic, glad to see Oliver getting love again! I look forward to having Mathews back and having both of those guys beating up opponents.

One of my favorited I heard recently was I think Margus Hunt who's from some Slavic country or Germany or something and he was known for blocking FGs so they nicknamed him the eastern block. Heard it on some game this year.

Well, if "Michael Savage" is really Michael Weiner,
does that mean that "Savage Lizard" is really Weiner Lizard?

Now that's a nickname for our times! :)

Your uncouth edge is always refreshing in here, SL...

I agree HL06, you and SL07 are right on the money...it is just lazy...and Spell check can't help either!;)

Actually, I'm impressed that my 19 year old daughter typically sends text messages in complete sentences; it makes me so proud!

I believe Tampa Bay RB Doug Martin has already taken the name "Muscle Hamster", which I love.:roflmao: It would fit Oliver well.
