    With Gronk's knee mangled and all, the Patriots have dire need of a tight end.

    Time for the Chargers to lend them Gates.

    Wool hoodies for wearing, high-tech cameras for spying – whatever Belichick wants, send it today.

    Deeds to La Jolla real estate? Qualcomm stock? A resort in Rancho Santa Fe? Bill Dean Spanos.

    The Chargers need help from others if they’re to scramble into the playoffs, where Philip Rivers belongs. Enter our pals the Pats, cuddly as robots yet San Diego's new best friends, because they're the one team that will play the two teams that lead the Chargers (7-7) in the wild-card scrum.

    So, it’s root, root, root for the Patriots (10-3) on Sunday, when they’ll play the Dolphins (7-6) in Miami, and again the following Sunday, when they’ll be in Baltimore against the Ravens (7-6).

    Memo to McCoy: If Brady wants Woodhead back on his side Sunday, oblige him. The Chargers, winners Thursday, have the weekend off. Hobbit-superheroes never tire. Book Woodhead first class to Miami.

    Will the Chargers (7-7) win out against the Raiders (4-9) and Chiefs (10-3) in home games, as they almost certainly must? Even if they do, and it looks like they will – the Chiefs may prefer to rest their best players -- because of the tiebreakers, the Chargers would need the Dolphins and Ravens to lose at least two games. There are other scenarios that could involve the Jets (6-7) but probably won’t.

    So, Philip Rivers will be cheering for Brady on Sunday, and on Monday night, he'll holler for the Lions' Matthew Stafford, who’ll take aim at the Ravens in Detroit’s dome.

    Hank Bauer will run into a wall, if Belichick would but ask.

    The Patriots owe us, the Chargers can say, rightfully. Time to call in the Marlon McCree chit, and consecutive wins over the Dolphins and Ravens could do it. It's the Patriots, though. Tormenting the Chargers is what they do. It's in their mission statement.

    No joke. He's "Tom Terrific" except when it might actually be of use to a Charger fan...

    It's over now that the Lions have lost against the Ravens. This team will go 4th straight year without a playoff appearance. They'll also be the first team to break the streak of SB winners who vs Eagles(Just their M.O to continue bad streaks and snap good ones. Norv the terrible coach he is was right when in his exit interview said this team won't make the playoffs in 2013. The team is ways away from becoming something other than a frustrating team that chokes away gimmes and plays David to SB Contending Goliaths. It's so annoying seeing all these good players years wasted year after year with mediocrity.
