Yes, I was conflicted about linking to a Grantland article, but it was actually well written.

Good article and pretty accurate except about Cameron bringing Coryell's offense back. Norv installed the offense during his lone year as OC in 2001 under Riley and Marty hired Cameron in 2002, who had worked with Norv in Washington to run the offense rather than start all over and scrap the system after 1 season.

72 percent completion in college and we throw the guy in an old, deep ball system. That was a huge mistake in my opinion. Wasn't a good fit for Brees either, but I think Rivers pretty much tapped the potential of that old Coryell system in todays game. I don't think there is a QB in the league that could have run it better than Rivers, even if he was miscast in it to begin with. I think his potential is vastly higher in this system and really only limited by supporting cast.

Thread title should read great article on Rivers.

I'm still so glad and proud to call him my favorite QB of my time spent as a Football fan.

I mean how can you ever doubt the skill of a qb kid who had his pop's as his qb coach since he could hold onto a football?

    Go get ars, Phil.

In the current issue of Sports Illustrated at the end of their feature article about Andrew Luck, there is an excerpt from “NFL QB: The Greatest Position in Sports” in which at least 5 Hall of Fame quarterbacks (Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw, Dan Fouts, Jim Kelly & Fran Tarkenton) are asked their opinions on various NFL quarterbacks through the ages, who they would choose in certain situations, ect.

One of the questions asked was who was the most underrated quarterback of all time, and the 1st name Bradshaw mentioned in response was Philip Rivers.

I actually really like Grantland for it's ridiculousness. Like many ESPN writers, it's hit or miss and rarely any positive Bolts pieces. But Simmons is on board and actually thinks we can win the Superbowl.
