Just thinking out loud, don't have a horse in this race.
But with a crowded field with Floyd, Alexander, Brown, Royal, Meachem, 3rd rounder Keenan Allen.
Does anyone think kick returner Richard Goodman is expendable? Use the $ and roster spot for a NG or a DB who could also return kicks?

I've thought that guy was expendable three years ago but he's still somehow here

Pretty much expendable, Surprisingly enough he was ranked 3rd in the NFL as a returner so if they completely slash out the WR label and keep him strictly as a ST player then I say he's safe but that also means it'll take away another position.

Right now we have seen DX as the only WR on our roster that has remained and stayed as our top WR, while Floyd, Brown and Royal have all rotated in running with the one's.

I'll be the first to admit, last year Royal was one of my favorite signing last year, assuming Royal stays with the team, I'd like to see him contribute as our top WR but even if he is just the main slot guy we still have 5 or 6 other guys who were brought in to compete at the return position.

As of now, I see us keeping no more than 6 WR's on our roster

DX, Floyd, Brown, Royal , Allen, Meachem

Nothing against Meachem as a player or a person, but he has a terrible contract and is making way too much for a guy who is our 6th best WR. It is impossible to cut him this year, so I hope he just rides the pine all season, getting no playing time, that way we can be rid of his contract next year.

Off topic: anyone else find it interesting to see the line ups today on the O line as

    Starks LT
    Schilling LG
    Molk C
    Dombrowski RG
    Fluker RT

Was this the 2nd team O line? I can see Dunlap being ahead of Starks at this point in time but Clary over Fluker at RT?. Dombrowski at Guard is interesting, amazing that he is still here.

You have thought all of our receivers are expendable... You hated McCardel as I recall... ;)

It might have been, it was just how they lined up in a brief vid,

I think it was mostly them trying out everyone at every position, later I did see Hardwick back at center when Dombrowski was still at RG.

I would say so. We can use Royal or even Keenan Allen as kick returners, so we don't need him for special teams either.

He's never really contributed as a WR, whereas the other guys can, so no reason to keep a roster space for him.

lol, the only pass I can remember where he did anything noteable, was the pass he caught ran for like 15 and slammed the ball down on the ground before he was touched. Haha not sure who it was against, but it was a few years ago I believe.

That was against the Pats when he was a rookie. He was playing college rules.

I remember that vividly too. Absolutely amazing. Just goes to show the sort of brain power he is working with.

I think that's a little unfair. One brain fart like that does not make a guy stupid.
