    Great news!

Gates has the same "Team first" attitude that LT does:

If, by some unforseen setback, he does not make the opener I guess he will make Derwin's scale...

Gates doesn't need to be 100% for the beginning of the season. He needs to be 100% for the end of the season.

My formula: Wait until he is 100% and then give him a few extra weeks just to be sure.

Exactly. We won't need him during the 1st part of the season and we have more than enough offensive firepower to get by without him.

Even the coaches note that 75% Gates < 100% Manu and Chandler
An extra week for a full powered Gates is sufficient trade off

I just hope Gates doesn't sit for 5 seconds on the sidelines of the season opener with his helmet on.

Otherwise people will think he wussed out.

I'll sign that petition... I don't want to take anything for granted... but we're as close to a lock to make the playoffs as any time in the league. That's when I want to see Gates shine. :bolt:

Said Gates: “Seventy-five percent of Antonio Gates is not better than 100 percent of Brandon (Manumaleuna) or 100 percent of Scott Chandler.”

    Where's Trumpy & Eldwin now?? :icon_shrug:

Ant, you can read this, too. :icon_tease:

Great to hear Gates being a bit more optimistic about his health. He'll know when it's time to go and screw anyone who thinks otherwise.

Thanks San Antone, I still can't rep but when I can you'll get it.

    NEFF!

i dont mind not seeing gates for a couple of weeks if hes gettin back to 100%. If hes 100% (or somehow better, if our training staff gave him like a bionic foot altogether) by playoffs, i dont mind one bit, we NEED a healthy squad in the playoffs, cuz we went pretty far without some key weapons all four quarters of certain games. the way i see it, we woulda blown through the playoffs and spanked the the gnats if we had even a crew that was at even 85%.

Whatever game Gates misses will be a true test. Proven that we need him in there and regardless who we replace him with, isnt the same. for instance, a couple years ago when we played the cowboys, and the pats game last year...just a couple of instances. Gates is a huge part of our game, whether he catches 3 passes or 15. But if he cant go, sit him until he is past the 100% mark. Toe injuries are for life.

i think chandler would be a good fit if were looking for a receiving end, hes 6'7, cmon, you gotta play the kid, hes huge, he doesnt even have to jump.

someone find shaq and sign him for a few games, hes big, and i think he can catch :icon_shrug:

just because someone has size doesnt mean hes an immediate replacement. everyone is scared of what gates can do. he draws double coverage..and if he doesnt, then they are screwed.

I'm not so sure about Gates being "replaceable".

There was a thread out there somewhere (to lazy to find it) that talked about the most irreplaceable players.

LT's and company have excelled since the arrival of AG. The stats bear that out.

I agree we might get by but, he needs to be there. As with Hardwick. Our wins are going to be that much more difficult without those two.

    imo

gates is one of a kind, Chandler can be on a completely different level. Until the kid plays we'll never know. It's how the team deals with injury that counts, not what we perceive it to mean. Doom, always seems like the easy way out, go for it if you wish, I'd rather believe we can find another route.
