Just wanted to take this time to wish all a Happy and safe thanksgiving.

Being on the East coast I've never had the chance to meet any of you but have had a great time trading jabs with all, sometimes agreeing and sometimes not. For this one day I hope that all can put all differences aside and be thankful that we have the ability to have the freedom to talk as we want and without being or held back from expressing ourselves.

Eat, drink and enjoy but most importantly let's remember those that are not able to be with their family's during this time for they are overseas fighting for our freedoms.:flag:

I hope everyone enjoys their time with their family & friends today. We all have a lot to be thankful for, from the country we live in, to the freedom it provides, and the opportunity we all enjoy.

Here in Massachusetts we have a Thanksgiving tradition. I guess it doesn't happen everywhere because my wife, who's from Virginia, was amazed the first year she was here for turkey day. Thanksgiving day is the traditional last game for all the High School football teams. I'll be taking my young boys to their first game this morning at 10:00 against the towns traditional rival. Both sides of the stands will be packed, with both parents, former students and current students from each town. On tonights evening news they will dedicate almost 10 minutes of the sports report to showing highlights from the best games and running down every score. It's a lot of fun.

Whatever your tradition, savor it, and keep it alive from year to year for the younger generations to maintain.

    Happy Thanksgiving.

When I taught high school in Portland, Maine, the two local public high schools..Portland HS and Deering HS always squared off for the Turkey Day game at ten AM at the local stadium....this year's game is a about 13 minutes long.

Many of the alumni gathered at local bars and restaurants that opened about 6AM to get smashed prior to the 10AM game. It really got to be ridiculous when a significant number in the crowd was drunk...fights broke out, people got sick, and spouses got upset.

My first teaching year 1971, there was a HUGE blizzard that Thanksgiving Day. Roads closed, and the area was a mess...they still held the game. I sat with my wife under a blanket, stocking hats, boots, down parkas, and warm gloves. The snow came so furiously, the yard lines disappeared well before the game started, and it was impossible to keep them shoveled off. Several Deering HS cheerleaders actually got frost bitten breasts...at least that's the rumor and lore that quickly spread.

New England has many T-Day traditions...and the local high school rivalry games persist despite the horror stories that come from them every year....the results of the game take back seats to the stories that come from the stands and the fans.

    Happy T-Day to all.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm thankful that my family is healthy and happy and that we still have a roof over our heads. I'm thankful that the military can't fire me so I don't have to worry about that.

I'm also thankful that I joined this forum in the past year. Although I find that I disagree with a very vocal majority a lot of the time, deep down inside we all believe that our opinions are what will be the best for the Chargers. So even if our team is sucking it up this year, I'm thankful for the Bolts.

Eat lots of turkey and take big naps today everyone!

That had to be the worst turkey day football I can remember. The food and drink was money though.

The Cardinals let me down, and the Aggies couldn't beat the damned 35 point spread. The Lions played their usual game, and the Cowboys stayed in competition for the playoffs.:icon_shrug:

    I broke even.
