Two starters returned to practice Thursday – nose tackle Jamal Williams (elbow) in a limited fashion and left tackle Marcus McNeill. Punter Mike Scifres was added to the injury report with a groin strain.

Linebacker Antwan Applewhite (hamstring), center Nick Hardwick (ankle), defensive lineman Travis Johnson (groin), running back LaDainian Tomlinson (ankle) and guard Louis Vasquez (knee) did not practice. Hardwick will not play., and the rest are becoming increasingly less likely to suit up Sunday Said head coach Norv Turner: “The odds go against you. The guys that practiced today have a better chance. The guys that didn't practice, their chances are going down.”

    CBS RapidReports

Three good signs for the Chargers defense: DE Jacques Cesaire has made consecutive practices for only the second time in four weeks and OLB Shawne Merriman made his second practice after a pounding season opener.

Defensive coordinator Ron Rivera said he asked too much of OLB Shawne Merriman in the opener and will give rookie OLB Larry English more snaps to maximize Merriman, who had knee surgery last September.

More Defensive imo, by screwing the opposing offense's field position.

This sucks in a major way no matter how you slice it. FUK!!!

Goddamnit. We said before the season that offensive and defensive lines were the weak spots on this team, and now they're as thin as a ****ing piece of paper. Jamal and Johnson both started on Monday, now they're out. Two starters out on the offensive line. Fuk....,..

SAN DIEGO -- Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson was officially scratched for Sunday's game against the Ravens.

He didn't practice Friday because of his sore left ankle and was ruled out after practice.

Also scratched were defensive end Travis Johnson (groin) and center Nick Hardwick (ankle).

Listed as questionable were defensive tackle Jamal Williams (arm), linebacker Antwan Applewhite (hamstring) and guard Louis Vasquez (knee) are questionable.
Punter Mike Scifres (groin) was probable.

Chargers K Nick Kaeding would punt if Pro Bowler Mike Scifres (groin) can't play, but coach Norv Turner said Scifres is on the injury list as probable just as a formality. "He's fine. We're resting him and taking care of him."

Michael Bennett was stunned to learn that Sunday will mark the first time LaDainian Tomlinson misses a regular-season game because of injury. Both backs are in their ninth NFL season. "I'm at a loss for words; that shows you how great of an athlete he is. He's always in the weight room, working and getting his body right."

Easy tonto - SciFi was listed as having a groin issue all throughout pre-season and he's been fine. He's listed as probable which is like 99% chance he will play.

Don't let the Acee propaganda scare you :icon_toast:

Coach Norv Turner on the status of NT Jamal Williams (elbow) for Sunday's game: "I am right down the line with that -- 50-50."

The Chargers will have a backup center and perhaps a backup RG starting against the Ravens. But coach Norv Turner said that doesn't make the team more vulnerable to up-the-middle blitzes. "It really works in our favor when people bring people up the middle, because we've got speed. We can get on the edge."

    NO HUDDLE...

That is how we win this game... It will catch bmo off guard, it will tire an aggresive D, it will slow D situational changes and give us many more ways to get Sproles/Bennet the ball... It takes the thinking out of the new OL as well...

Hey don't sell them short, and don't forget that the 12th man will come to play a big part in this. Just make sure you scream when our defense is on the field not the offense.
