Our worst defensive player is captain?

Does anyone remember how many times he blew his coverage last year? Including the one against Jared Allen!

The players voted for him, so they obviously don't think that he's that bad.

Hart must be a good locker room rah rah guy, cause he sure isn't a defensive leader on the field.

You don't have to be a great player to be a great leader, and just because you are a great player doesn't mean you'd be a great leader. Obviously his teammates look at him as a leader if they didn't they wouldn't have voted for him.

    Little tough on Hart?

Sure he blew coverage a couple times last year. The only guy who didn't was Jammer.

Hart has improved considerably since beginning to start. He's gotten pretty good at run support, and he was second on the team in picks.

He's not Troy Palomalu, but few players are. He's better than McCree.

Totally agree. Hart is one of the better tackling safety's in this league, i actually think if he were to be bigger and stronger he would be a bob sanders or a dawkins. Stop being so hard on my bolt.

I was re-watching the 1st half of the Carolina game and I remember seeing Hart come through the gap and making a strong tackle on the running back. It was one of the better plays I saw on a Carolina running play. He definitely wasn't afraid to stick his helmet in there. He's still learning the game in a way...it's only his second year starting since HS. He didn't even play college ball so I think he's doing pretty decent.

I want our inside linebackers to start leading in tackles.

Hart goes after the ball and those carrying it. He needs to have a guy like Weddle around who can secure his assignment and let Hart be Hart. He is a little like Cromartie in that sense.

McCree was one of the biggest reasons for problems down the middle. He is bad and pass coverage and does not communicate. The middle was better for us, and our secondary this year. If anyone doubts this then they need to rewatch. Last year if our D-line was getting dominated that much our opponents would of scored a lot more points.

Yep. I can't see much room for debate when the team makes the decision. Coming in second to Merriman is no disgrace and now he's captain. I suspect if the team had an inkling that Merriman to going to screw them like this, Hart would have come in first.
