But Cottrell acknowledged of the pass rush: “We've got to get better. We're working on that.”

But, he explained, “We couldn't have been more aggressive – for what they were allowing you to do.”

Said Cottrell: “We told the guys, 'You weren't using your speed.' ”

Now, why that would be after using it so well in '06 remains a mystery as well.

“I don't know,” Cottrell said. “They were thinking about trying to set the guy up. We have guys with great speed. Use what God gave you – you have to remind them.”

a real inspiration, if you ask me... :icon_sad:

So we are letting the opposition dictate our level of defensive aggresiveness?

I actually agree about the speed thing. They were playing like pussies in the front seven. I am sick of all the defensive players saying "we have such a talented team I don't need to do that much". That is bullshit talk which Morty rammed into their heads.

ONLY when Wade Phillips was there running the defense as the head coach like he is now in Dallas. Cottrell has NEVER had a solid defense that he was running as the leader.

I agree with what Ted said, too. Everybody is too busy villifying him to realize that this is what he's supposed to do as a coach: review the players' performance and tell them what to do to improve. In this case, he thinks the players are trying too many bullrushes. He wants them to use their speed more. What's so f'ing wrong with that? He's doing his job.

    Cottrell is a POS.
He's basically pushing blame on the players, when in reality he is the problem.

He has to write it on the back of his hand before he goes to bed. Can't write it on the palm ... it would wear off.
