    What is it?
I am crusse10 (chris, the gfx manager) from tsz (the-sportszone). I'm trying to make a 32 team signature set, and I'm going forum to forum asking this question. What is it that makes your team tick? Is it a hallowed coach? An immortalized player? A landmark? What is it?
I need as many ideas as I can get, then I'll set up a poll (if I have the ability to do so). Please, PLEASE give me some ideas.

As an idea, I'm a very big packers fan. Ideas for such could be Curly Lambeau, the Frozen Tundra, Vince Lombardi, Brett Favre, etc. In that instance, I would probably mix the Tundra with Lombardi, but you get the point.

So, in conclusion, please help me. When I post the final set, I will give due to each board that assisted me.

Thanks, and I hope to see a bunch of ideas!

    Everything spun off Sid Gilman.

He single handedly biitch slapped the entire AFL (prior to the merger of the AFL & NFL). :bolt:

Sid Gilman invented the passing trees.

Don Coryell took it to another level.

    I am the prophet.

Between Thumper and Ghost_ , I think we have some pretty good ideas for starters.

Bambi, Fouts, Air Coryell, Sid Gillman, LT, lightning bolts, Powder Blues, Kellen Winslow, Seau, Rodney Harrison, and the Harbor

I threw in the landmark of my choice ;) The lightning striking over the harbor, reflecting off the water, with boats in the background would be very pretty....

    Any other ideas?

I think to Chargers fans the heart of the Bolts is Air Coryell. Don Coryell, Dan Fouts passing for nearly 5,000 yards to the likes of Wes Chandler, John Jefferson, Charlie Joiner, Kellen Winslow... those were some damned exciting teams.

And yes, Sid Gillman is the man Bill Walsh called the father of the modern passing game. Back in the old AFL days the Chargers were running a fairly modern passing game when other teams were still running out of the "I."
Right now Ladainian Tomlinson is the undeniable heart of the Chargers.

When I think Chargers, I think prolific passing, innovative offense, and now LT.

Regarding Chargers lore, here's a photo that's instantly recognizable to any long-time Chargers fan (and most NFL fans.)

 I agree with thunder. I'm not old enough to remember the AFL, but the first game I remember watching was the Charger vs. Dolphin OT playoff win. I have been a Charger fan ever since. And I don't even live in Cali.:bolt:

If you include a reference to the stadium, it would be "The Murph" after the great sports writer, Jack Murphy, who was instrumental in getting it built.

Fuk that "The Q" name ****.

It always will be "The Murph" to me!

Their pies are still around. Gilman>Corryell>Hadl>Fouts>Rivers. Right now AJ has his hand on the thermostat. Other than that, the main ingredient is SoCal. The Chargers have Frisbee.

KW 1 playing "drama queen"? :D

Seriously, he wasn't the only player suffering cramps/dehydration/exhaustion that day - but he did play one hell of a game. :icon_toast:
