    I need help.

To those of you that have one, what is the best Wireless Router out there?

    I HAD a Linksis.

That piece of crap did me in. I kept getting an intermittent internet connection.

When I read the signal on my Wife’s laptop, it kept telling me I had an “Excellent” signal.

At first I blamed the wife’s kids for giving our compturs a virus. Both Computers had an intermittent internet connection. I kept diagnosing my connection with my PC Doc Program; it said I had a good one. Run a test, the connection would work.

Turn the Computer off, no signal.

I was going crazy. I started running every virus scan known to man, run a scan, it would find something, the internet connection worked. I could run an update on some programs, and it would work. Then immediately after that when I tried to get an internet connection, nothing.

Then I started to question my Windows XP, I went out and bought a Professional version on EBay for Windows XP. It started to work great, after one day, then I started to get an error message, and it would start dumping memory, I thought I had a corrupt Windows Professional version.

So then I ran a complete system recovery, reformatted the whole C Drive, and while I was going through that, it asked for all my information, I then re registered with Microsoft. When I was updating, I got another intermittent internet connection.

I unplugged my wireless router, and went straight in with my connection cable. While that error message was up there on the screen. It fixed it self.

I am going to get rid of the Wireless router I bought for Christmas, It was a Linksis.

    What does everyone else have?

The only problem I've ever had with my NetGear wireless firewall router over two years is it came unplugged once :)

    Lynksys G Router
    Cox
    HP ZD8000 Laptop

I picked up the d-link/lynksys g-router and had the same problem with it. The laptop was 5' away, on the other side of a wall.

My IT guru (HP Certified repair outlet) came to the conclusion it was a voltage issue with the Laptop's pci slot, which was toasting the wireless cards.

HP sucks. Wouldn't fix it. Even after my boy told them it was broken. Unfortunately, this type of repair only occurs in Texas.

Brother-in-law has a comparable Dell, and has no issues with my wireless hookup.

Let me know how this turns out, maybe I could find solutions for my issues as well.

I have a Dell Dimension 5100 desktop (and a Dell laptop I got for my kid last year), Windows XP with the NetGear router that I also got from Dell...no problems yet...perfect connections anywhere in the house.

My current problem is this NordicTrack elliptical trainer I got last week still lying in the livingroom in the box, unassembled...the assembly instructions are scarier than my 8th grader's advanced allegra book and include "wiring" :icon_eek: Not to mention I want it upstairs and it outweighs me by 75+ lbs...:icon_eek:

My PC has benn upgraded to the point that NOTHING on it remains from the original.

    Bottom line-no connectivity probs now.
