    Hester, Henderson face deadlines

Jacob Hester visited the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday. So now he has another option to weigh.

But he doesn’t have too much longer to decide if he wants to remain a Charger.

A team source said Wednesday that if Hester has not made up his mind by Monday, the Chargers’ offer will be taken off the table.

The source said an ultimatum also stands for offensive tackle Mario Henderson, who worked out for the Chargers last week and even announced on Facebook he would be joining the team. Henderson has until the weekend to decide whether he wants to sign with the Chargers.

A message left with Henderson’s agent was not returned.

Hester returned a call while preparing to depart Seattle.

“I’m appreciative they gave me the extra time to go on a visit,” Hester said. “I just wanted to go somewhere and see … It will be a big decision. I’m glad I got a few days to decide.”

Hester said he has turned down invitations to visit multiple teams, but Seattle is the one place he really is interested in.

“I might take another trip later in the week,” he said. “But I don’t know if I need to go anywhere else.”

It is unclear the role the Seahawks have in mind for Hester, given they re-signed Pro Bowl fullback Michael Robinson to a two-year deal last month. In San Diego, Hester would return as a reserve fullback behind Le'Ron McClain while continuing to play extensively on special teams. Hester was special teams captain in 2011.

Hester has played 62 of 64 regular-season games with 23 starts since being drafted in the third round in 2008. He played just 348 snaps in 2011, and the Chargers signed McClain last month. The Chargers consider McClain a capable ballcarrier, so the two fullbacks could conceivably share a backfield at times.

Henderson would provide veteran depth on a line that needs it.

He started 28 of 44 games played with the Oakland Raiders between 2007 and ’10. He started 16 games at left tackle in 2009 and another seven games in 2010.

Last season, Henderson was out of football after reportedly showing up to Raiders camp out of shape.

Wish it was last monday for Hester. We don't need the guy. He's certainly not good enough to spell Mathews and he is serviceable at best at FB. And he sucks on STs in my opinion, he is dog slow.... I wanna see Gilchrist or someone else real quick to lead Goodman/Spurlock/Parrish/Royal/Insertothernamehere out on KRs.

Henderson is a meh.... if he is stalling at a great opportunity screw him, let him walk.

I hope Henderson will sign, assuming the deal he was offered is dirt cheap. As far as Hester goes, if he makes a dime over vet min it's too much. He catches the ball well, but then never does anything with it.

He doesn't get first downs and he's almost as likely to fumble the ball on a reception as he is to score, and his long is 21 yds, with a career average of 5.6 ypc. If he's going to be back, I hope he drops some weight and comes back as a RB so that we can better take advantage of his 2 best attributes, PB and catching, both of which are being killed by his slowness.

Buh-bye Hester. A few years too late, IMO.

Seeing how Henderson has had off field issues and reported as being lazy, anyone looking to re build their career would most likely sign the first chance they had, the fact that this guy is so hesitant to do so is a bit concerning

If he does sign I will say welcome and cheer him on, but if he doesn't I'm not going to lose any sleep over it either
