Well my "source" just got back from Combine. Mr. Source happen to speak to Mr. Turner and ask about Eric Parker, because we all know him and wanted a little up date on whats going on with him. Mr. Truner said, "Eric is speacial player, he brings to the table something that no other player in the league brings". We plan on keeping him in S.D.

I like Eric Parker but his performance in the playoffs was discouraging. If I omit that performance from my evaluation and his ability to stay healthy as well, I think he is a dominant slot receiver.

This has been my opinion and it hasn't changed. The guy gets open and catches the ball. He does the same thing for us now that his coach used to do for us. He just doesn't get the ball as much because the offense is different from Charlie's playing days. That might change this year, though.

Or did you mean he was driving a combine home???? That would explain his tardiness and perhaps based on this we can determine he's a mid-western scout??????

I knew AJ was cheap but making your source walk home is extreme even for the notoriously cheap Spanos family. :icon_huh:

I am hopeful too that having Charlie Joiner as our WR coach will spark something in Parker and Floyd we have not seen, but my biggest concern would be CJ getting through to Vincent Jackson who can be a difference maker and a no. 1 receiver.

Parker and Floyd are 3's at best, perhaps the reason they have limited trade value. A lot of other teams have 3's, not as productive as our guys but they are dime a dozen.

OTH Parker's game is more versatile because he is a very good, not great, PR man.

Parker simply reads the field and glides to an open space. It's not the raw speed or acrobatics, it's simply the instinctive field sense and the playing speed to find the open spot. There are some people who simply glide to the void, like Joiner, Jefferson, Largent, Charlie Taytor and a few others who simply had the knack. "Hit 'em where they ain't", was the motto of Willie Keeler. In 1894, he began a streak of 200 hit seasons that lasted for eight years. He was 5-4 and 140 pounds and used the smallest bat in major league history. His performance wasn't equaled until Pete Rose. You can argue all the times, all the season catches, all the td's you want. Parker finds the dead spots and grabs the balls thrown into them. Parker flies like a crop duster, not an X-15 pilot. If VJ can learn the same style, he will be deadlier than Jerry Rice because of his size. He won't get the stats because of the scheme, but if VJ can acquire Parker's style and instincts, he and Gates can turn the league on its ear. Chambers, Gates and Davis can spread the field, Parker and VJ can exploit the gaps when they line up. They give Norval a chance to create offensives schemes that look like Jackson Pollock paintings, pure abstractions that cannot be effectively scouted. Rivers has the brains to dribble the paint in the right places.

Nice post, RC. I especially like the Willie Keeler analogy. Hit 'em where they ain't has always been my motto during my baseball/softball days.

Parker may or may not make the cut this year. We have a much more talented group of WR now w/CC in the mix & VJ coming on. I like Parker - with few exceptions he's always been nails. Great at picking up 1st down yardage in the clutch.

Hope he's healthy & ready to rock. He could be our Wes Welker this year.

That one playoff game against the Pats was one of his worst performances ever and he still made several clutch catches. That one game was a fluke. He's made clutch catches throughout his career in San Diego. Healthy, he is a dominant slot receiver.

Can't wait to see this comes true.
From Air-Coryell-scemes to Air-Norval-abstractions seems to be great.

I dunno about the Pollock reference I bit too out there and signifying nothing, but hey I just hope we can improve on the 20th ranked offense in the NFL ranking. I do agree with all these guys running into the open zones.

Poof is a great guy who has made some social fopahs.

He supports his player, except for about 8 months after the player does poorly in a game, but that is not something that can soley be attested to him alone is it?

He has a strage sense of humor, but his girl is smokin hot, so we have to tolerate him so we can oogle her!:icon_tease::lol:
