Houston deal will interest Vincent Jackson

    ESPN
    August, 5, 2010
    By Bill Williamson

You have to believe San Diego holdout receiver Vincent Jackson is paying attention to the new extension signed by Houston receiver Andre Johnson. The extension tacked on two more seasons worth $23.5 million extension with $13 million guaranteed. Jackson’s camp has wanted a deal north of the five-year, $50 million deal Miami gave Brandon Marshall.

Expect Jackson’s camp to reevaluate after the Johnson deal. The market is what it is, and if it changes, Jackson’s camp could change its desires as well. Jackson’s camp believes he’s perhaps the most dangerous receiver in the NFL, and they want him paid accordingly.

Jackson is currently holding out, and he will likely hold out well into the season if he doesn’t get an extension. The Chargers have no plans to give Jackson a new deal.

San Diego has no plans of trading Jackson, at this point, either. But there has been, and will continue to be, interest. According to a league source

Sure it will interest VJ, but that does not mean he will see that kind of money. He is not at the same level as Andre Johnson, so he can keep dreaming. He is NOT worth 10M per year.

He can be, but he's not yet. He's not better than either of those two.

Suck it VJ. We're moving on.

His off the field issues are a major concern and I would guess a major reason he is getting no love from the FO. He got pulled over on the way to the playoff game which shows you were his head is firmly shoved. The chargers will be fine with him sitting on the couch.

Here I thought he was getting a one way tickey to Houston and the Bolt's would get something useful in return.

VJ has delusions of granduer if he thinks he is in the same league as Andre Johnson!!

The Brandon Marshall deal was a real pain in the @rse for the Chargers in terms of the VJ negotiations...there was no way Marshall was worth that amount!!

    1st Tier WRs

    Andre Johnson
    Larry Fitzgerald
    Steve Smith

    2nd Tier WRs

Randy Moss - On his way down
    Brandon Marshall
Michael Crabtree - Mostly on his potential from what we saw last year (IF he gets better)
Roddy White - on his way up!

    3rd Tier WRs

Reggie Wayne - Will start declining this season
    DeSean Jackson
    Vincent Jackson
    Miles Austin
Calvin Johnson - Will be at least in Tier 2 by the end of this season...probably higher! IMO

Jackson is no where near what Johnson is as a Talent.

Marshall and Johnson are > Jackson

    Just my opinion though.

If/when Jackson is moved it will be interesting to see his production without #17 throwing him the ball.

Not my point ****** just that they had some chemistry and that doesn't always follow a player.

Rivers is better than Whitehurst so I can understand the bitterness.

Well, since you're in the mood to judge everyone else's opinions on players, why don't you tell the class who you think is good and who isn't?

Please rank all the starting (projected) QB's in the NFL.

    God tier -
    Great tier -
    Good tier -
    Bad tier -
    **** tier -

Also, please rank Vincent Jackson amongst a list of these players ('09 and '10 pro bowlers):

    Andre Johnson
    Brandon Marshall
    Roddy White
    Miles Austin
    Larry Fitzgerald
    DeSean Jackson
    Chad Ochocinco
    Steve Smith
    Reggie Wayne
    Wes Welker
    Anquan Boldin

On another note, I'd treat this like a Geico commercial

Show the contract to VJ that Houston gave Johnson and say "15 minutes in camp could've earned you 15 million or more from our team"

Get the **** out of here, im not wasting my time doing all that

But any list that has crabtree over guys like VJ, Wayne and desean jackson is clearly asinine and had to of come from someone who is clueless about the NFL
Also, Steve Smith is an ELITE WR? yeah great job

yeah because rivers is the only QB he could ever have chemistry with right?

How about lets see how much his numbers improve if he went to a team that didnt have a TE that catches 70+ passes a year. Jackson is a top flight WR and has the talent to be successful anywhere he goes

So, you'll whine about everyone else opinions but you're not gonna offer your rankings? It shouldn't be too difficult for you.

And I pointed out I simply listed the pro bowl recievers from the last 2 season.

I would not even give him that.. yet. If he has one more year like last year then we will talk. That is if he can stay out of the car while he is on the sauce.

Not much between White and Wayne stats wise...

    Reggie Wayne 100 Rec - 1264 yards - 10 TD

    Roddy White 85 Rec - 1153 yards - 11 TD

Wayne is on the way down, while White is on the rise...PLUS Wayne has Manning throwing to him, White has Ryan.

White is a better WR than Wayne...period.

Crabtree is a different story...a bit outta left field, but I believe he will be a preimer player next season.

Did you notice that Roddy White was pretty much a "bust" until Matt Ryan showed up?

VJ has had 2-1000+ yd. seasons w/ 17.2 YPC (career)White has had 3-1000+ yd. seasons w/14.9 YPC.(career)
White has 27 tds. on his career and VJ has 25. Guess who's been in the NFL longer.

    Nice try, though.

Well since you got so butt hurt over my comment (which i still stand by), PLEASE explain to me how Crabtree is a tier above VJ,Calvin, boldin, Austin, reggie Wayne, and desean jackson!

IF (a big if with WRs) crabtree develops, he would HOPE to get to those guys level. THose guys are all proven 1000 yard WR with double-digit TDs, yet you seem to think those guys are looking at crabtree?? great job!

Also, how is steve smith an elite WR?? 9 years and only 1 double digit TD season, always hurt, and in the past 4 years, hes had 1 monster year, and 3 "3rd tier" seasons.

So like i said, i stand by my comments

John Jefferson>Jackson, he thought he was bigger than the team also. No Dan Fout's and JJ quietly disappeared.

I'd like to see that Andre Johnson could do with Philip Rivers throwing him the ball.
