Is it just me or has most of the Charger news this summer been negative? Stadium BS, Weddle and Rivers stalled contracts, Gates PED suspension, muzzling Seau's daughter at Canton and all that LA Chargers talk... when are we going to get some positive Charger news?

Chime in with anything positive you're hearing about the team.

Can't think of anything. Honestly I'm just waiting for the injury horror show that is training camp.

High hopes for Jason Verrett? Slash!
Melvin Gordon our only capable #1 back? Wham!
A do or die year for Melvin Ingram? Whoops!

Sorry, but these days no news is good news. Just pray it keeps silent.

LaDainian Tomlinson, one of the Chargers’ greatest players and one of the most prolific running backs in NFL history, will have his number 21 retired when he is inducted into the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame during the 2015 season, Chargers President A.G. Spanos announced Wednesday.

That would be the November 22nd game on Sunday Night. I wonder if the TV networks will shut that down too and not mention it? Oh, I currently have a ticket available for that game.

His message wasn't all bad. It was just a horrible packaging job. I guess we have all been guilty of posting for effect over the years. :D

The team has several key players who will be healthy to start the season
The O is under the radar, but if the OL can be half decent they should put points on the board
We have a young stud RB who looks like a superstar on paper
The Chargers ended last season as one of the best red zone D's and look like they could pick up where that left off.
Not all of the fans have gone running off laughing maniacally while cackling LA LA LA LA LA!
    Denver was dismantled.
We get to play Oakland 2 times

    Now that is funny!

    FWIW, I see two also.

As an aside, given their figures, I think the size of most of the cheerleaders can be misleading in photos. I have stood next to some of them in years gone by and they are little tiny things, not infrequently just barely over 5 feet in height.

Okay, the positives for us this year are:

    1. We have three years of immediate control over Rivers as an NFL Player with the potential use of the franchise tag.
    2. Gordon should be a good #1 RB for us. Woodhead should again be a good receiving RB. Rivers' best years have come when he has had a Sproles/Woodhead type player to use on check downs when our other receivers are covered.
    3. Perryman should ultimately be a solid or better starter for us for years to come and may well emerge as our best ILB.
    4. Verrett has great coverage skills and we will get to see them on display.
    5. Our run blocking should be much improved. This should allow us to get back to the ball control offense that we used so effectively in 2013.
    6. Attaochu is healthy and he has potential as a pass rusher (great 10 yard dash time for an OLB=quick off the snap).
    7. Ingram and Liuget are ready to emerge as the defensive forces that they can be.
    8. Carrethers has real potential to be a good run stuffing NT for us. If he is able to lock down that job, Lissemore could be the answer for us at LDE in our 3-4 base formation.
    9. Tyrell Williams is big, fast and quick/agile and may ultimately turn out to be the UDFA of this year's new player recruitment. 4.38 40 time, 6.53 3 cone drill (extreme quickness), 39.5 inch vertical, 10' 7" broad jump, and good hands. Not sure why nobody took him in the draft.
    10. This is the year that Ladarius Green will emerge for us. The loss of Gates early this year will actually end up being a blessing in disguise as Green will gain confidence in himself by having success on the field as the #1 TE and Rivers will build a rapport with him. When Gates comes back, they will form a dynamic duo that will give opponents fits. And if the opponents go pass defense heavy with both on the field, we will check to runs and pound the rock down their throats. It should be fun for us see.

These are all good things that we can look forward to seeing this year.

What about the "aliens"? I'm looking forward to the WR group this year. I wanna see Stevie Johnson light it up.

I would like to see Stevie have a good year, but as far as WRs go, I'm more hoping that Tyrell Williams makes the squad and can at some point be a quality contributor. If he could, that would make life so much easier for the likes of KA and Stevie

    True dat...
We Chargers fans went through our decade of futility... Not sure how improved they will be... That will depend on QB and OL.

Like I said, this time of year no news is good news. The only real position battle is at RT, and future discussion in July/August will likely revolve around injury fallout and/or the inability to sign Rivers to a long term deal....or worse, LA.

But if you feel you must leave this embattled community of loyal Charger fans due to the lack of headlines and therefore lack of debate, then make sure to delete you're account on your way out. Lates.:coffee:

Same for us really. Except Rivers is approaching the downside whereas Carr appears to have some real growth potential.

    Seriously already!

I have neither the time nor the inclination to look it up, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that I've read an article about the Raiders "improving" each and every one of the last several years.

I guess if you just keep saying it eventually it will be true.

I still remember when Raider fans tried to convince me Art Shell and Aaron Brooks would lead them back to the top of the AFC.
