... Although the Bolts are often left out of some of those 10 best lists on the NFL Network, we were well represented on the 10 Best Tightend show they had. We had two, Kellen of course and Gates was 10th I believe. One of the comments was that Gates may eventually pan out to be the best tightend ever. Bring it on Antonio :icon_toast:

He's definitely one of the great recieving TEs in NFL history.

That being said, it's too bad that there is no stat that records the totality of a Tight End's worth. It's one of the most complex and demanding positions on the football field - more so, IMO, than any except QB, and that's even arguable, all things considered. A good/great TE can hold a block against a 300 pound defensive tackle, have the lateral movement to cut off an edge-rushing DE, beat a linebacker on a quick slant, then out-jump a safety on a fade route while keeping the presence of mind to keep both feet inbounds.

Gates is a willing blocker, but he's not the best blocking TE on the team - Brandon is. Manu doesn't get the credit he deserves, IMO. He's a tremendous TE.

It's good to have options. :D

Manu has very quick feet for a man of his size. Damn near nimble.

I wonder if we'll see him lined up as a tackle eligible in the red zone this year.
