It is with a heavy heart that I'm letting everyone here @ BoltTalk know that my husband has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which has already spread to his liver. I'll still try to get on here as much as possible when the season starts, but for now I wanted to ask everyone who prays to send up a few for him, and everyone who doesn't for good thoughts and/or vibes.

He is having a good day today---very little pain, no vomiting thus far. At this point, we're just trying to make memories that will sustain us through the dark days to come, and to literally take things one day at a time.

Thanks in advance for any prayers and positive energies. :(

Good thoughts your way LG, your husband has a good person in his corner from what I can tell and that will be of the utmost importance in the days ahead.

Enjoy your time together LG, there is never an easy way to approach such a sad situation, but you have always shown honesty and strength in your posts and I am sure you can do the same in these worst of times and make your husbands days ahead, as comfortable as can possibly be.

Sincerely best wishes to you both.

I lost my wife last year after a hard fought battle with liver failure. We had only been together a couple years. She was only 39. I've probably sat here 20 minutes trying to think of what advice to give you, I can't think of anything. After two wars where my unit lost 25 men, I still wasn't prepared for the Hell of what she went through.

The only thing I can say is stay strong. Take time during an errand to break down if you have to- and you will have to. Keep yourself healthy so he doesn't feel like a burden. Create as many happy memories as you can. Just be there for him.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I truly hope things turn out for the best.

Thanks, y'all. :inlove: And Okie, please let me offer my condolences on your loss. I can't even imagine what you must be going through, even though I'll be going through the same thing at some point in the not too-terribly-distant future.

The doctors did say that hubby's tumor is of a slower-growing variety than was first thought, so with treatment he may live a lot longer than the 3-6 months they gave him at first.....maybe as long as 3 YEARS, if God is good and we can get subsidized for the $11,000/month treatments. It's still not long enough, but we'll be grateful for every single day we have together. :)

I've never had to go through it myself, on either side. I can only imagine what it could be like.

Positive thoughts and well wishes are in abundance to you and your husband.

I feel a kind of profound sadness reading this thread. Sometimes people need to band together to help one in need fight the fight... or just lend encouragement.

It is sad, but if you lived up here in Canucklestan, all of that treatment would be free. Sure... when you have to have something non-life threatening done like a hip replacement... you have to wait your turn... (no matter how rich you are... or go down to the States and pay cash).

If people want to label that Socialist and Communist... (or Obama's severely watered down version of it for that matter)... well okay. Maybe those who do just can't comprehend someone's else's pain, or nationalistic fervor makes them incapable of distingushing the forest for the trees.

If I could make you both honorary citizens north of the border, I would.

There are no words that I can render at this time in your need, anger, pain and sorrow, that would truly be of much comfort. I can only hope and pray that the Almighty through his will would lead you in these troubling times with peace and joy.

Hubby is doing really well......few side effects from his chemo pills and shots, he's got a huge appetite and the weight loss has stopped. We'll know more about how the medicine is working when he has his next CT scan in a few weeks. In the meantime, his attitude is "I'm LIVING with cancer---not dying of cancer".

Thank you! And I have good news---his lab work shows an indicator that his tumors are shrinking!!! We won't know just how much until his CT in a few weeks, but this is the best possible news we could have gotten for now. We do appreciate y'all's positive energies and prayers, because we know they work!!! :abq1:
