Yeah.. anyone know if they are gonna put this press conference on chargers.com or somewhere else?.... dying to know/see what he said and how he said it....

Somebody said he defended the indefensible ie. McCree running back a 4th down INT. I understand it can be hard to slag ur players in public but couldn't he have said something like, 'Marlon is devastated, he won't be repeating that again, I assure you'.

He teaches his players that it's ok to make mistakes, that everyone makes them, and that they should move on and forget about their mistakes.

...but he never corrects the mistakes. He is too stubborn to identify the mistakes that truly cost us because in doing so he is identifying himself as responsible for them.

I disagree. I've played sports, and situational awareness is a part of sports.

The odds of him returning it to the house are slim, especially with everyone in front of him.

Even if he doesn't fumble, I'd rather him not cost us the field position.

It's clear that Marty and AJ do not like eachother. They don't have to like eachother. But they are on speaking terms and I did notice that there were some sources they met Monday night. I like that they are communicating. The common goal is the same: to win. Who's to say AJ did not advise Dean that Marty should be given another chance?

    Excellent point.

None of us can be sure what AJ's feelings are about this. Or if he feels anything at all. AJ is strictly business - football-wise, everything we've seen from him has been strictly emotion-less. "Here's what your calculated worth to the organization has been - take it or leave it."

I think AJ looked at 14-2, an AFC West Championship, a #1 seed, the fact that we've had three straight winning seasons with a very young team, weighed that against available coaching candidates, and decided (as I did) that letting Marty stay keeps the chances of the best possible outcome high while preventing the worst of worst-case scenarios.

Also, let's not forget: the Superbowl is goal #1 for AJ, Marty, the team, and us fans, but to Dean Spanos, a 14-2 season means a season ticket sales, profitable playoff games, merchandise selling like mad, and a higher chance of the elusive stadium deal. Marty was part of the formula that made him a LOT of money this season, and he would like that to continue... so he likes Marty a whole lot.
