Will the Chargers hire him back as OC?
    Should they?

Yes! But I doubt there will be any moves until the season is over.

    Of course.
But I think it would be a brilliant move.

The only way Cam comes back as OC is if Norval is fired.

    Exactly.

And by now we should all realize that Norv will be here for at least 3 years.

I'd take Cam back! As much as we had to complain about then, we now see the light.

I'd like to know Clarence Shelmon's true position in the coaching hierarchy and the amount of his input into the offensive gameplan/calling the game before I can make a decision.

    An intruiging possibility nontheless.

I'd just as soon move him back to RB Coach
While I bluntly think he's going to get the blame for the offensive woes when its obvious its norv's fault, I think he's best working with the running backs. He's been working with LT, MT and Lo-Lo for a few years now, molding them into the best out there.

Not a chance... Cam will not be fired until season end if at all.

Even if he is fired before then, for him to become OC or HC in SD Norv has to get fired, which, again, will not happen until the season is over (if at all).

I'm not sure I would want Cam back anyway. He is old news. Go find me a young guy ala Josh McDaniels or Jason Garrett.

Oh and get us a new DC too.

Our frontline coaches are so 'been there done that' coaches who should be on their pensions long ago. :icon_evil:

I don't see Cam getting fired, he had crap to start with down there and it hasn't improved overnight. If he were to get the Boot I don't see AJ hiring him back anyway, being that he was and probably still is loyal to Marty.

Cameron gets a free pass this year. They can lose every game for the rest of the season and there is still zero chance he gets fired. The organization knows this year is a lost cause... only reason they were willing to part with Chambers.

I'd rather hire him as a head coach than an OC...

I don't believe Cam will be fired.
Then again, they haven't made the smartest moves over the years either.

They are in a rebuilding mode and EVERYBODY knows that.
Why do you think they traded Chambers for a #2?

That's about the size of it. They are stockpiling draft choices, so cam has atleast one more season in Miami. Norval gets the chop if we don't go far into the playoffs. I would wonder about Cowher at that point. If not him, then somebody else hardnosed. I've had with technichians.

That had better not be true. That will pretty much waste the rest of LT's prime years. :icon_evil:

Wait a second...didn't lt get fewer than ten touches in the second half of the playoff game last year? Nevermind on Cam.

Yeah. I keep hearing the same thing about Norv not being fired until at least another year. The problem is I doubt LT will want to play for him for another year. I realize Shaun alexander has been injured a lot lately, but most backs go downhill big time once they reach 30. I wouldn't put it past LT to say, I want out if Norv is here after this year and we continue to tank. Not sure I can blame him.

    Cam won't be fired.

    Norv won't be fired.

Can we find some new topics?

On February 24, 2007, UT writer Kevin Acee said this:

ESPN's John Clayton said OC Clarence Shelmon is signed only for 2007.
Secondary coach Bill Bradley is signed through 2008.
    Chargers.com press release:
    Chargers.com press release:
TE Coach Clancy Barone and RB coach Matt Simon were hired before that Acee story I linked at the top. I can not find any info (other than the non-specific Acee story) that says "one-year" or "two-year" contracts were signed.

    Another ESPN John Clayton story:

    Position/Name - Year signed through

    HC Norv Turner - 2010
    OC C. Shelmon - 2007
    DC T. Cottrell - 2008
    TE C. Barone - 2007 (not confirmed)
    DB B. Bradley - 2008
    ST S. Crosby - 2007
    OL J. Henry - 2007
    OL H. Hunter - 2007
    WR J. Lofton - 2007
DL W. Nunnely - 2008 (maybe longer - not confirmed)
    OLB J. Pagono - 2007
    QB J. Ramsdell - 2007
    ILB R. Rivera - 2008
    Asst. DB Ross - 2008
    RB M. Simon - 2007 (not confirmed)
    Strength J. Hurd - 2008

Those dates are assuming that the two coaches Marty hired before he was fired - TE Barone and RB Simon - only signed one year deals.

Those dates also assume that Acee was correct in the top linked story on this post.

Bring in the Chin. Demote Norval to OC and Shelmon back to RB Coach. Cotrell can hit the road and Rivera promoted to DC.

There will be multiple SB's and lots of spit flying from the sidelines. :abq2:
