Sproles: He is great but he's not a feature back IMO. He's a Reggie Bush type of back. You use him for kick off returns, passing, and running. I do hope he'll be back this season.

Hester: Maybe. I think he has MT potential.

    Tolbert: No. Good secondary.

    Bennett: See above.

New draft pick or FA signing?

Draft pick with Sproles having the same role. I do hope to see Bennet back next season as I think he's a decent back.

If Sproles is resigned, then he and Hester will share the role. No way Sproles can do 16+ games as RB, KR and PR. RB by committee.

If some GM throws crazy $$$ at Sproles based on the Colts game, then Draft Pick and Hester. If the Draft pick is a 1st, ie Moreno then he becomes the man and Hester will pay FB and backup.

I don't care who it is as long as he's healthy in Jan and runs with his hair on fire.

We will not have a feature back next year.

LT either conforms to a two back set (and a pay cut) or he can collect his next paycheck in Buffalo. :icon_eek:

Most teams are going to a two back set. LT needs to recognize.

    Hasn't he always?
First it was LT/Chapman. Then LT/Turner (while Marty was coaching). Now it's been LT/Sproles/Tolbert.

Dude .... A two back set is not simply counting the RB on the depth chart.

It means having their asses out on the field at the same time. Remember us screaming for more LT/Sproles combos or LT/Burner in a two back set package.....

Oh. And yes, I remember that.
Doesn't the coach need to make that happen?

Yes but here is where the drama unfolds.....LT has incentives for "touches" in his contract which equals $$$$.

No touchy...no $$$$ (or as much as he could get put it that way).

Uncle Norv is going to a passing game and what has LT said about it? He does not like it. I wonder why?

Teams need to run the ball and not necessarily FIRST.

Offense is not a run first mentality like defense. Defenses need to stop the run FIRST and the PASS second.

I smell mangina and greed.

    IC. Thanks for that info.

Would touches include a reverse to LT to Sproles, and other assisted plays like that?

About the Drama part, wasn't in 2004 when LT would sit out for most of the second half in a few games and let Chapman take over? Sounds to me like this is workable.
The biggest problem I saw with our running game all around was the it could only excel against bad defense (with the exception of the Colts.) Against good defense, completely a non factor. IMO, we miss Neil BIG TIME!

When was the last time that a Norv Turner offense ran a 2 back set?

They did it this year for the first time but only for one or two plays.

I would want someone else, Bennett has nice speed and size, imo the most viable option on the board, Hester is too slow.

Bennet is like 30 years old. I'd rather have LT.

He's also rested and healthy, looked much better than lt to me, I don't care about age, I care about field age.

We either draft someone (Moreno/Greene/Hill) or we grab someone in FA like Brandon Jacobs

yeah pretty much, I don't even know what to expect as we have no idea what is going through aj's mind, (well aside from geritol). Why would Norv's bombs away approach want to spend money on a RB even though it's clearly obvious that's the key component we are lacking.

I'd like to see a Muncie type back, someone who can juke you or knock the living hell out you if necessary.

A power back is a good mix with a vertical offense, gives you a change of pace. Sproles+Hester+Jacobs could have teams hurting pretty good in the run game

I agree but I'm just worried about Sproles health. It's like land of the giants to him and it will catch up to him sooner or later.

On the same note it catches up to everyone sooner or later, the guy can play and should have a role in the nfl.

I just don't want to see his career cut short do to a devastating injury from which he can't recover. The dude is fun to watch and I hope he remains a Bolt.
