You think he can excel at this level Ant? I mean he's turned 2 college programs into winners. He's a feisty leader that players love to play for too. I'd take Chucky Gruden too.

I would totally support the hiring of Jim Harbaugh as our HC.

We won't get this guy. If we don't prove first that this franchise truly wants to "WIN". Matter of fact this entire city needs to show that it really wants to "WIN". Then and only then will a hiring like this happen until then get use to what you saw on Sunday.

To answer the op I think Harbaugh would be good fit. Though I would like Cowher as well both would do fine.

Heck Why don't we just get this guy back.

I was one of Marty's biggest defenders but let's not pretend he did any better than Norv has.

I really wish people would quit glorifying that 2006 team like as though they won the Super Bowl or something.

The 2006 team didn't accomplish anything greater than last year's 13-3 squad did save one extra win in the regular season.

Oh ok cool. Just wanted your thoughts on Harbaugh. I think we're on the same page. I think he could be an intriguing hire. Only thing that is a knock against him is that he hasn't coached at the NFL level where it can be more challenging than the collegiate level. Not saying he can't do it, he probably could knowing how competitive he is, but would be more challenging. But with the amount of talent we have, it's just having a guy who won't fock it up!

True but if that were the case then Norv should be fired after last year. Yet he got an extension. Marty did call some dumb plays that game but all that could have been nullified if a certain safety could hold on to the ball.

Here's the part that concerns me about Norv in the playoffs

    playoff record
    2007: 2-1
    2008: 1-1
    2009: 0-1
    2010: ?

The 2006 team has been one of the better charger teams in recent or franchise history. The 13-3 team last year didn't have feeling to them that they might go all the way. 2006 team did but neither of team did so it doesn't matter. All that matters is 2010 team and their quest for a SuperBowl win.

Yes, But that can be attributed to many reasons and not all on Norv.

We will NOT get a good or even great coach with AJ Smith as the GM. No one wants to work for him and be under his thumb. Until Smith is gone we will continue our slide into mediocrity.

Apparently every playoff loss since 2007 is because of Norv. :icon_shrug:

Norv took an 11-5 team further than Marty ever took this team.

And it took an undefeated team and 4 injured players to send him home.

I don't know what team you were watching last year.

I hadn't felt so confident about the Super Bowl since 2006 going into the playoffs last year.

6 or 7 people interviewed for the job before Norv was hired.

I'm not blaming it on Norv but at the same time it was not all Marty's fault. You can agree to that now can you? See my response to AnteaterCharger

Fair enough, but at the same time it seems like a lateral move to me to get rid of Norv on the grounds that the team isn't succeeding come playoff time only to replace him with another guy who historically fails in the playoffs.

edit: Besides, while I don't buy into the chicken little conspiracy theory that nobody would want to work with AJ, I do know that Marty wouldn't want to work with AJ anymore so that'd definitely fall under the realm of unrealistic possibilities.

But am sure Marty could have done the same if given another shot in 2007. But that's all speculation now and nothing more. Marty was given a team that was bad pretty horrible actually. In two years after his hiring Marty took this team to the playoffs given that they did lose. But you could say Marty had a lot less to work with but thats all speculation because we don't know what Norv would have done with less talent. We just assume he would be bad at it because he hasn't won a SB yet with more talent.
