By Nick Canepa

DETROIT – After watching Pittsburgh and Seattle stumble through Super Bowl XL, if we learned something, we learned this: The Chargers have a real chance. This could be their time to sit with the adults, because the NFL we now live in doesn't exclusively belong to anyone.

As it was, the champion Steelers needed a late field goal to beat San Diego during the regular season. They are good, as they always have been under Bill Cowher, but not great. The "one for the thumb" thing is nonsense. Their four previous titles, won with all those Hall of Famers, came more than a generation ago. That thumb has been bare for a long time and this win has nothing to do with the 1970s.
