I realize their fates are likely tied to the hip so this is just for hypothetical purposes motivated by sheer curiosity.

And please assume that whomever we keep is immediately extended 10 years and is immune from being fired. (So no saying anything like "Fire AJ because a competent GM will push Norv out once he takes over" or anything like that).

Yea, the poll is flawed. You know if push comes to shove AJ will throw Norv under the bus to save his ***. Both need to go.
Anyone thinking that a new coach..bla bla bla..can work better with AJ is just delusional. Don't you get it. John Butler
hired a strong coach, AJ did everything in the world once he was in power to undermine him, and ultimately fired him.
Next: AJ convinces Spanos to hire a great O coordinator but a loser Head Coach. Now, who is really to blame here?
This childish notion that AJ will change and perhaps give up some power to a Head Coach is equivalent to the thought that Norv would accept a demotion to Offensive Coordinator. The world doesn't work that way.

How is the poll flawed? It has nothing to do with what may really happen.

Furthermore, who AJ would or would not throw under the bus is irrelevant because the decision of whether or not to fire AJ is not AJ's decision.

But it sounds to me like you'd keep Norv. Ok.

That would completely negate what the poll is trying to decipher.

So if I want both to go or both to stay, I can only just not vote? Crappy poll.

I think the vast majority of Chargers fans want both to go.

If you'd read the first post you'd understand what the poll is asking and realize why adding that option would completely kill what I'm going for.

(This is what happens when you enter a poll thread and ignore the first post)

    Funny.

I've always enjoyed this board over the UT forums, and despite the glaring difference in the response to this poll/thread that I'm about to highlight I still do, but it's odd to me how everyone at the UT seems to A) participate in the thread and B) understand what's being asked. Whereas over here people seem to be A) ignoring the poll for the most part and B) calling it dumb because it doesn't allow for options that would completely kill the entire purpose of the poll.

You can't fire the GM and keep the HC realistically, so your poll is purely hypothetical........ #imjustsaying

Fire Norv. At least if we did bad with a new HC. We would know it is AJ's fault.

Which is probably why I said it was hypothetical in the first post.

Getting rid of Norv is a 100% must do.

Getting rid of AJ is up in the air. On one hand he has done some good things like finding decent players under the radar like Garay, Martin, Butler, etc... On the other hand, he has had some bad first round misses like Davis, English, maybe even Cason...

My opinion is that Spanos needs to decide what coach he wants, and if he thinks that coach can mesh with AJ then let's do that, if it's someone like Cowher who will not work for AJ then AJ has to go too.

After yesterday (and maybe before), Norv would lose a popularity contest
with Hitler. I didn't vote in the poll (nor did I ever watch Sophie's Choice)
because, while I'm not happy with the way the season went, I don't think
that much of the bad part was actually Norv. As far as AJ, I'm hard pressed
to point to a more successful Charger GM...and I've seen a lot of 'em...

So, if I did vote, I'd keep AJ for sure. Norv, I don't really care either way...
it would depend on what the alternative was. I think Cowher's overrated,
but I'd be willing to give him a shot. Gruden? No freakin' way. His final
half dozen seasons as a HC were an embarrassment.

    Fire Norv. Hands down.
AJ has had some major screw ups (1st rd draft picks clearly not his speciality). But although our depth has declined in recent years, our talent level is not too far off the pace.
Our play on a weekly basis on the other hand leaves us no chance of really contending. We're undisciplined, inconsistent and soft - and that reaks of a head coach who's not performing.

No, your reading comprehension is just bad. I am either voting to keep both or not keep either by not voting. I didn't ignore the first post, I just can't answer it even hypothetically.

If you read the first post and still feel this way then you are the one who lacks reading comprehension as the entire premise of this poll, as clearly stated in the first post (not to mention the thread title), is to decide which one you would rather keep if forced to choose.

Keeping or firing both is not an option on purpose.

You could've just had a question such as, "Who is most responsible for the decline of the Chargers, Norv or AJ"?

No need for a hypothetical poll question....... #imjustsaying

Simplest way of summing it up, we have seen that we are capable of having an actual "dominant" team under the reign of AJ (watch this bring out the Marty apologists in droves, but who was responsible for how much doesn't change the fact that that dominant team actually existed, even if it failed to deliver seven pounds of sterling silver with a football on one end). Under Norv, not so much... dominant record at one time yes, but that team wasn't particularly dominating - by comparison across the current league or by comparison to the prior actual dominant team.

Under Norv we've seen a long enough sample size to determine that it likely can't be done. Under AJ we've seen it's at least possible, given the proper circumstances. There's your answer. If pressed to make a choice, I'll take the one where there's at least evidence that there's a chance of success versus one where there is no evidence to support success.

Jesus, why can't people just PRETEND for 5 seconds and answer the poll question? IF you don't like it GTFO and start your own poll.
