Check out the Dallas running play 3:32 approx left in 3rd and check out Coop's attempted tackle. Feel for the guy but he was not going to be a contributor. This injury might be a blessing in disguise in that we might actually find a better player out there now.

Bummer. I'm a little concerned about Crayton. Hope this doesn't slow him down later in the season...

Where does the article say cooper is on IR?

the article says "I can't see the Chargers placing Cooper on Injured Reserve unless they're terrified of him landing with a rival team late in the season."

We need depth at ILB. I would rather have a veteran that can fill that void at the very least.

Not at all. I was thinking the same thing. Coop was the "safe" signing. Now let's see AJ work some magic to replace him and the young guys need to step up.

I'm not sure how an IR player impacts our cap, but I don't think we have much left.

Coop was going to be nothing more than a backup this year, anyway. He and Takeo play the same ILB position, and the Chargers were not expecting Cooper to remain healthy. I don't know if this changes their plans for the other ILB spot. Mouton and Butler are still battling there, but it certainly affects our depth. Not sure if we have the cap space to sign Morrison.

IIRC there was a report last week about how much room all the teams had and we had somewhere around 2.5-2.8 mil, not exactly sure of the correct amount, but it was definitely 2. something. I don't know how putting a dude on IR affects cap either.

Only question re Morrison, team seems very content to start Donald Butler. Does Morrison want to come to a place where he won't start?

If I were an NFL free agent this year I would sign with just about anyone. In the new CBA players who make the roster are covered by the leagues health insurance for life.

Not to mention that players get dinged up all the time..... backups become starters in a hurry in the NFL.

I hate to see any player go down to injury but it does happen and the team just has to move on. I don't know if Morrison is the answer but I'd love to see one of the kids come through and make some waves.

Someone like Morrison or McIntosh is needed for depth if nothing else. Butler will likely start, but not at all sure that Mouton is ready to get a lot of reps.

Mouton seems to be more like the backup to Takeo to me, certainly in size. Butler might be a young Burnett/Donnie Edwards. I reckon we need another ILB to backup Butler. Gachkar and Bront Bird do not look like the answer.

Was Cooper working out on his own during the offseason or during his extended holdout?

Acee was on XX yeserday and said he would be going on IR becauseh e is supposed to be out 2-3 months. There is no way the teams holds a roster spot for a backup ILB, that can't tackle, for 2-3 months.

But he did say the replacement would be a veteran backup. I would love to have Morrison, but I bet he is looking for a place to land where he can at least compete fro a starting job. But at this point, he may just be willing to take any job that gives him a chance to get on the field
