This is horrible news--kid plays 110% every down, but this is why he always seems to get injured.

TT had the foresight to draft Attaochu, and it is looking quite good at the moment. As for depth replacement...Cordarro Law? We have, fortunately, 2 known starting-caliber OLBs in Johnson and Freeney. But they are so old that I am now worried about the future of the position.

Can they sign someone by tomorrow's game? Let's say it's Law, did he travel with the team? Or will they play with one less LB?

Corderro Law might well be called up, showed some very positive signs but this couldn't have happened at a worse time. I wonder what on earth happened, and admittedly starting to wonder if he's just injury prone

It happened just before the last play of the game against Seattle. It was pretty innocuous, he just ran around and got blocked a couple times, finally gave up as the play didn't go his direction, and walked off the field.

It was of course (as always) a completely meaningless play, when the game was already clinched.

The only positive is we get to see if Law has any future with the team.

Law played well in the CFL his last year with Calgary, getting 14 sacks.

The OLB depth is what prevented Law from making the 53, IMO. Law may be a pleasant surprise, and Attaochu will get his chance to have a standout rookie campaign, too.

The fact that Tourek made it ahead of Law isn't comforting though.

Tourek is a special teams contributor, is he not? Granted, he is not an ace like Tutu or Stuckey, but usually, that is the deciding factor when it comes down to composing roster depth.

Terrible news.... Keiser can step in............ oh wait, what!?, Tourek instead?, you're kidding.

Law's time is now then. Tourek is a bust imho.

Keiser made a play against us as an Arizona Cardinal Week 1.

Usually you'd take a good pass rusher over almost anybody.

I'm seriously looking into trade possibilities right now if I'm in Telesco's position. We clearly cannot count on Melvin Ingram even if he does come back. Johnson is not a pass rusher, and Freeney is old, and I'm betting he played A LOT more snaps last week than Pagano ever initially intended.

Yeah, but pass rushers are rarely on the trade market, as well. But unless Law showed utter dominance in camp or the preseason, he was not going to be "discovered". Cameron Wake was discovered because he joined a Miami defensive corps that had just lost Jason Taylor...and had little else, anyway.

I hope you're right, I really do, but right now I'm pondering the San Diego Sports Curse.

Melvin was awesome last week, only to get brought down on a completely meaningless play.

Do not get me wrong, I HATE losing Ingram, he was my shining star of the season, the potential breakout candidate. Although I believe we can afford to lose him, I really, really dislike losing a player whose presence is felt in pretty much every game he is in. Next man up, and luckily for us, a high rookie draft pick is next on the depth chart...if HE is healthy, that is :/.

I couldn't believe this news when i first heard it. I wonder what the exact injury is because most hamstring injuries dont require IR even if it is designated to return. We been talking about the depth defensively all offseason and unfortunately we are going to be relying on it a lot very early on in the year

Horrible news. Just when he was starting to really play well. This kid has had some awful luck. Hopefully he makes it back this year.

No corresponding move for Chargers with Melvin Ingram on short-term IR. Will carry 52 on 53-man roster for now.

Which means no Cordarro Law. Makes me wonder if they're going to try to make a move before putting Law on the 53, and therefore having to pass him through waivers later on.

With Freeney and/or Johnson likely to go it was always a need. Now it's a freaking priority

Freeney & Johnson were never long range signings to begin with so with Ingram being made of glass sure as hell makes this defense weaker than anyone knew. You're right, this is now another glaring big arse hole to fill.

A really bad one that requires the kid not to mess with playing for 8 weeks.
