On SOSD Chargers page, Acee says they don't think Kaeding is headed to IR, but will almost certainly not play next week. Tolbert's knee injury is not serious. Castillo's injury looks more serious. He was wearing a huge brace after the game.

Why even bring up IR unless its a long term injury? This is a sneaky HUGE problem for us.

I knew we should have signed Akers.

I think the only reason he brought up IR is that Nate was carted off the field with a knee injury. That's usually bad news. The main thing people want to know about early season injuries is, "Will the player be back this year?" I don't think you can read much into the mentioning of IR other than he was putting fans' worst fears (fans other than CoronaDoug) to rest.

Acee just reported that both NFL.com and espn.com are reporting that Kaeding has torn ACL. Acee says he has not heard anything definitive but does not look good.

We should have signed Akers. I knew Kaeding would get injured on the opening kickoff......:poop:

On a phucking play that was blown dead. We have the worst luck with false start plays. Hardwick was injured a couple years ago on a play that had been blown dead.

Maybe this will be a blessing in disguise and we will get a more reliable, experienced FA kicker..if one such player exists!

Or a F'n disaster, and we'll have to cycle kickers like the Redskins did last year.

I wonder if we'll bring back Nwagbuo too. I hope so.

I hope he heals (Kaeding) but my instincts are not hitting the panic button. Scifi blasts ten foot high laserbeams, not that I want him as our full time kicker on fg's but definitely on kickoffs, I was so pumped to see a kick go through the back of the end zone.

Never been confident in Nate hitting a fg, I usually close my eyes. I don't want to see him hurt but get another kicker and make sure the f'er can do his job.

He is the Matt Cassel of kickers.

But I am worried about how we're gonna find a decent replacement. At least it happened early, unlike last year when we had to settle for that douche Kris Brown.

Most teams, if you say they lose a starting DL and a K week 1, they're in trouble.
For the Bolts, I say we just lost 2 guys our coaching staff should have been weened from awhile ago.
I'm more worried about the KO coverage and the right side of the OL than these two injuries.

i'm okay with this as long as we can get a kicker than can go 1-3 in the post season.

Dudes would probably rather play rugby.

But yes, NK isn't as valuable as K homers want you to think...

According to a 45 minute article on the NC Times.com, Kaeding AND Castillo out for the season! :(

CHARGERS NOTES: Injuries to Kaeding, Castillo likely severe

The Chargers have likely lost kicker Nate Kaeding and defensive end Luis Castillo for the season. Early indications are that Kaeding has torn his left anterior cruciate ligament and a source said Castillo has a broken leg.

If Green Bay got through injuries last year, we can get through them this year.

But what about the regular season? Kaeding is the most accurate regular season kicker in NFL history. Can we get a guy off the street that can come in and be that consistent for the next 15 games? Doubt it.

I'll never cheer for an injury to a Chargers player (and only to a very few players at all, the dog killer for one)

Hope the Chargers have better luck with kickers than with long snappers

I guess OG will be back which is good
