We got Ryan Mathews to fill our biggest need, we got Donald Butler to replace Dobbins and eventually replace Cooper, we got Darrell Stuckey to compete with Weddle, and we got a 2nd round NT Cam Thomas in the 5th for a major steal!!!! Was this a great draft or what?

I love the players we got.....especially after researching Donald Butler a bit. The guy is a freaking Dawg.....Stuckey was already one of my favorite sleepers.

The common thread is that all of these picks are great, hardworking guys to go along with being talented...Cam Thomas may be the one exception to that..but if we can whip his @ss into shape, we might have a steal there.

Half the people in here had razors near their wrists before we made the Cam Thomas pick.

I told yall! AJ "Gawd" Smith has a plan for all of us.

I'd have to say that through the 5th round, this has been a most excellent draft!

    We need one more draft.

    We plugged two holes.

More holes need to be plugged.

We still need a starter at DE, RT, our Center (Hardwick) gets owned by anyone bigger, (nickle back is very iffy), no back up left tackle (no one seems to care until McNeil goes down).

We are closer but we need MORE.

    This is a fabulous draft:

    1. We got our guy at #12, which teams could have snatched out from under us.
    2. We got a very promising LB in R3 that is compared to Ryans.
    3. We got a great NT prospect in R5.
    4. We spent our comp pick on a QB named Crompton, which makes him a "cromp pick".

    Awesome job, AJ!

You didn't even mention that we drafted a FS who many consider a super sleeper in this draft who could push Weddle out of a starting job sooner rather than later.

I am satisfied overall. After Thurs Night i was a bit saddened we lost our 2nd. However we did get the best RB in the draft. Our Run game is going to be SO much better, which will in turn help out our D.

Butler is going to take over for Cooper, prob by mid season. Butler + Siler is going to be fun :)

Stuckey has high upside, another great character that will push Ellison, if not start over him from day 1.

Cam Thomas, this is a guy I bagged on for the most part because everyone had him going in the 2nd. With that being said this pick was great for AJ. Added another guy to rotate at NT that has some natural BEEF.

Crompton is the only pick I didn't like. I would have taken LeFevour or Snead IF any QB. Though I would have rather of had Olsen, Byham, or Mitchell.

Overall i think we did well (so far). Immediate upgrade at RB and anchored down the middle of our D.

You hated Crompton, I remember that vividly. But I see the Whitehurst comparison there, and the pro-style offense he ran in college, and thats why he was in my mock.

I really really like this draft. There is nobody we have that has bust written on their forehead, or anyone we can't work with.

So far? So if AJ picks some scrub in the 7th it'll ruin the draft? Or do you mean it could still get better. Say AJ gets Dwyer

Yea not a big fan of Crompton. Would have much rather had LeFevour in there, or just taken a UDFA for our 3rd string QB.

Anyhow I am expecting big things from Butler and Stuckey. I think Mathews is going to be the ROY, serious.

Cam Thomas has size, more size than anyone on our roster so thats def a plus. If he can improve his speed he can be a solid run stuffer for us.

I wanna know with such young talent on the team, where are our team leaders and captains? I mean like the guys that bring the energy? merriman? cooper? who steps up this year and puts the hard hat on day in and day out and just puts in work?

By saying So far, it means that your opinion on the draft could change.

As in so far AJ has had a great draft.

If that isn't what you meant then ok. :abq2:

Im more exited about butler then i am for Mathews.

Next season is looking to be a great one especially if we see English Develop!

Hopefully not, Weddle is a stud but depth in the secondary is always a good thing!

Crompton was drated to be our #3, and to hopefully never even see the field outside of preseason games, and severe blowouts if he happens to be activated which is unlikely. Our scouts must see something in him though, and the whole Whitehurst situation worked out pretty well for us!

    I took Yes of course.
But there should be different answer on the block.

Yes, but a little mediocre or
No, the price for Mathews was too high for example
