Has anyone heard anything about a blackout on the CAR @ SD game?

I just ordered Sunday Ticket, and it says the game will be on channel 714, well coincedentally the only channel not available to me is 714.

For what it's worth, I just looked at Ticketmaster and there are some single seat tickets available. Whether it falls below the blackout-sellout threshold, I don't know.

Usually if it isn't completely sold out, somebody buys the rest of the tickets and gives them away. Sycuan does it a lot, I think.

Seriously bro, I paid 270 some odd dollars to not go through this weekly stress of wondering if the Chargers will be on in my area of Oregon.

I'm going to be beyond pissed off if I have to watch a damn internet gamecast.

If you're in Oregono blackouts won't affect you, because you're not getting it from a station that reaches within 75 miles of the venue.

On the disclaimer it says "Games are subject to blackouts"
Its nothing to do with being in Oregon, its directTV not cabel.

According to the Chargers website, there are only about 1,500 seats available for Sunday's season opener. Translation: They should have already reached their "sellout" threshold and the available seats are mostly single seats in undesirable areas, too low, too high, in the corners, behind a column, etc.

In the event they have not reached "sellout" status by about 1:00pm on Thursday, they request an extension and then a local indian casino or somebody else will scarf up the necessary seats to guarantee a sellout and no TV blackout locally. I'm thinking we won't need this option this season.

It is going to be a madhouse down there, plan ahead!

If you have Directv and live in Oregon, you WILL get the game on Sunday ticket. The NFL blackout rules are not like baseball where you can be in a teams home area and live 500 miles away.

Unless you live in So.Cal, don't worry. Sit back and watch Sunday Ticket.

    I will.:yes::bolt:

    I can verify the above,

I watch every game on Sunday Ticket (unless it's on a broadcast station)

also, check the thread about out-of-town Bolt fans

Ok, that sounds great. I'm just wondering why the Channel its supposed to be on is not even available to me.

Its the only game that does not show up on the guide, and the only reason can be blackout.

matilack, you will never have a blackout where you live. Even if the game is blacked out in SD locally, you will still get the game in Oregon on DTV. There is no NFL team that can claim the market you are in.

The only time you will not get it on the 700s channels is if the game is on the local CBS/FOX/NBC/ESPN network station in your area.

I get 1 chargers blackout a year here in the Bay Area due to the Turds not selling out.

As of right now 12:40PM PST there are 600 tickets left. They say its possible that with the huge amount of season tickets purchased people thought it was sold out. 600 to go. Thats still embarrassing. Oakland went 4-12 last year and sold out 5 games. No wonder theres a chance we will lose our team

    and,

Due to the Labor Day holiday and the shortened business week, the National Football League granted the Chargers a 24-hour extension in an effort to sell enough tickets and lift the local television blackout of this Sunday’s Chargers-Panthers game at Qualcomm Stadium. The team now has until 1:15 pm PT on Friday to sell the remaining 600 tickets.

“We’re doing everything we can to get the word out that we still have tickets for sale. We think that a lot of fans just don’t realize we still have tickets available,” said Chief Operating Officer Jim Steeg. “Our streak of 30 consecutive regular season and postseason sellouts is definitely in jeopardy.”

Fans can go to the Chargers’ ticket office at Gate C at Qualcomm Stadium, go to www.Chargers.com or contact TicketMaster at 619-220-TIXS (8497).

this game will be sold out.

A pox on whoever decided that those damned obstructed view seats MUST be sold. It's those piece of crap seats that get us in trouble every damned home game. No one wants them. They end up being sold to people who don't know any better. But most Chargers fans are hip to how worthless those seats are. If you're going to have to watch the game on the big-screen anyway, might as well stay home.

Well the San Manuel Band has bailed us out before and can bail us out again. I can't go and I can't watch at home but if it were blacked out I'd be happier since it wasn't NFL monopolist policy but rather NFL unfair broadcast capitalism.

Charger games can not be blacked out in Oregon based on non sell outs.

*IF* there was a team in Portland, you would be subject to the blackout restrictions. No matter where you live you're subject to the blackouts of your local team. Since you don't have a local team (unless they consider the Seahawks local, which I doubt) you don't have to worry about blackouts at all.

I'm not worried about a blackout but rather the two hurricanes heading this way. Just like Sept. of 99 two storms and Floyd was no fun. So if I'm still here and we have power, and my dish is still attached to the pole I'll be watching. :icon_shrug::icon_toast::icon_party:

This must just be a malfunction with DirectTV.

    Do you have HD???

Because thats what they told me, they told me its not being broadcasted in anything but HD, and seeing as I dont have an HDTV I'm not going to get the game.

And of course they couldnt tell me why it just happened to be THE ONLY ****ING GAME THIS WEEKEND NOT BROADCASTING IN STANDARD DEFINITION!!!!:icon_evil:
