They've been putting up a real fight lately but I wonder if the futility of it all is starting to wear on the team. Especially after getting curb stomped by Denver, how much more energy does this team have even for an apparently better coach like Sparano.

The Raiders D played well in the first half, but that last minute TD before halftime really took the fight out of them.

I love watching a game like this one. It's a win with either outcome. :)

Hate that commercial. The vast majority of their fan base lives for that image. That commercial simultaneously feeds their egos, and makes us look like pussies.

It ain't like it used to be. Who really cares about the Raiduds anymore???, a few folks dressed up for the weekend means nothing. They aren't even good and that's a bad thing to the AFCW, actually they're an embarrassment to the rich history of the division. Bring back the Seahogs, the NFL got it wrong.

The Raiders are a brand for the NFL. I'm pretty sure had they been called something else they would have been sold by now.

Still, the Bolts need to make a statement with this game. They simply need to take care of business. Beat whoever is opposing them, and score more points than the other guys.

Kind of a no-win weekend for the Chargers:
If they beat the Raiders--who, despite being evil, should still play hard--everyone will say:
"Seriously? Your last 4 wins are literally over the absolute worst teams in football...two versus the very worst!"

If the Chargers lose, they will be absolutely crucified. And probably deservedly so.

No, sadly there's no way for the Chargers to rebuild their image this week...
maybe next week...especially if the Rams could pull off a miracle upset over the Broncos Sunday...

All they can do this weekend is win this game, then worry about the next one next week. I hope they win it big just because I personally enjoy seeing Raider fans unhappy, their tears are like candy.

Who cares about image? I care about the Chargers' record. I also care about handing the Raiders their 16th consecutive loss.

They need to turn this around and it can start against the team where this downward spiral started (going from shutting out Jets to squeaking by Raiders counts as the start). They can do it by beating a team that's been a lot tougher lately but now the Chargers are getting back five major contributors, and their opponent might have let out their last gasps over the past two weeks.

A hungry lion does not ponder the Lance-a-Lot kinda logic when faced with a skeeered sheeep! Who cares about the Raiders and where they stand? Beat 'em to a pulp if you can, because that's what'd they do to yoo-hoo, if they could!

Well, the post above mine said:
"...the Bolts need to make a statement with this game."
I was just kind of saying that I didn't see how a statement could be made, under these circumstances.

They make a statement to their fans by blowing out the Raiders and not making it a close game that matters.

They go 6-4 and they start warming up for the tough end.

If we see a nail biter or a loss on Sunday, we know it's over.

If the Bolts lose against the Duds, it will be getting very dark on BT or all hell will break loose. :abq2:

I don't think this game will be the "cake walk" as some do. Lots of guys coming back with no game action in weeks, can't over do it with them looking down the road. Should be interesting to see how this team responds as a unit especially early on.
