Jaguars cut special teamer Kassim Osgood

FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reports that the Jaguars are releasing wide receiver Kassim Osgood.

Calling Osgood a “wide receiver” is admittedly generous. He rarely plays on offense, focusing more on special teams. Osgood was due a 2012 base salary of over $2 million. The Jags weren’t going to may that much for a gunner.

Turning 32 in May, Osgood figures to settle for a deal worth closer to the NFL minimum as he enters unrestricted free agency.

Could be worth a vet min flier as a ST'er, but honestly with the new kickoff rules and the fact that Kassim and his hands of stone offer nothing in the way of WR option (other than decoy detail), is he really worth a roster spot over a guy with upside as a receiver?

This was a good move by Jax.

And no actualy KO would draw the opposite. He would be giving the run plays away b/c thats the only time he got on the field as the #4 WR. We dont need to telegraph our play selection any worse than it is already predictable.

Bring him back for the min? If our special teams loses Hester and/or Tolbert then KO could come in and do a job. I guess it comes down to whether or not he still thinks he's actually a receiver haha.

I could accept KO if LT is a package deal. But LT realistically still has a chance to get to pursue his dream QB tandem with Peyton.

What about to Laurent Robinson to the Jags, crazy. He's a good player but he ain't worth that money and he is going to a team with a QB who looked scared to me his rookie year.
