That is going to piss me off if the let Jamal walk over $6mil but bring Sproles back at $7.2.

2 possible ideas if this plays out.

    1) jamal's injury is more severe than anticipated

    2) one of the young guys who filled in last season really impressed the coaches.

Hopefully that doesn't mean we're going after Terrence Cody.

How about signing Kampman, trade away 95 and make the move a 4-3?

We might just see something like that. We have the bodies to go with a jumbo line. I dont know we will have to see what happens and what news comes out about Jamal.

    BTW, welcome to the forum!

Like the idea of switching to a 4-3 D. Don't like Sproles being tagged, and not too happy with Jamal being let go but I can understand why with $6 mil due next season. At least the we have gotten accustomed to playing with out him.

Just seems so out of the blue. We are in desperate need of a nose tackle, by all reports his recovery was ahead of schedule, and at the very least we could have seen how the draft shaked out.

    TIN FOIL HAT THOUGHTS:

What if we have a trade setup with sproles? like a him and a lower pick for someone's high or mid first... maybe the plan is to use sproles to get ourselves a top pick nose tackle and we need the money to pay all the high tender restricted free agents.

We have already setup a trade for another teams nose tackle.

We are moving to 4-3 as others have pointed out.

Maybe Jamal got caught on roids? Like HGH to help him recover? Like castillo in college or Rodney Harrison on the Pats?

------ taking tin foil hat off.....

Just having a hard time seeing the sense of the cut, right now. The timing is so odd.

Over thinking it my man.. AJ didn't wanna pay him his 1Mil bonus due tomorrow. Between that, his nagging injuries and us (possibly) changing to a 4-3 the timing makes perfect sense :p

    WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!!!

We dump the most dominant player on our defence because we don't wanna pay him a measily few million dollars??????? COME ON!!!

If this team is not far away from a superbowl...like everybody keeps saying...then why are we even thinking about a drastiv change in our Defensive structure?!

Our Defensive personel has been geared the last several years for the 3-4...so how are we going to change it in one season and keep our momentum going??? I can't see it happening!

I read so many articles, twitter pages etc.. all starting to form a picture that things are not so rosey in the Chargers club house too!

I fear...seriously...that this team is on the edge, and heading for the toliet fast!!

My faith in the people running this team...is shaking badly!!!

Same here, but I'm not totally surprised. Lots of wear & tear, roster bonus due, AJ had stated that his draft plans revolve around getting an immediate impact NT ...

I'm gonna go put on my Jamal jersey.

Hang in there scratch!. We need our KiwiBolt to stick with us!!. Yes it has been a crazy few days starting with the LT release (expected). There is no doubt about it now, AJ has his work cut out now. He will prove his worth (or not) in the next 6 mths.

My tin foil hat thoughts would be that we are being set up to switch back to a 4-3. We now have Ian Scott and Vaughn Martin at NT with maybe Nguwabo there as well. The only issue would be where would our pass rushers and our DEs be?

As far as Jamal going is concerned, I don't get it. He was going to be useful coming off an injury and this was the year we were supposed to finally get him someone to rotate in and out with. I don't know why the Chargers would then all of a sudden release him

I don't think so, he got a sniff at Jets but that's it. Just listened to AJ live on 1360. The only thing he said was he was mad for RBs. This means there is no way we are goin RB in rd 1. AJ loves blowing smoke up peoples u know wots. If Jamal does not come back I reckon we are goin DT, maybe even Cody.

If anything this move screams that we will take a DT in the first round; with (likely) keeping sproles another year and losing our pro bowl nose tackle, I don't see how in the world we now don't have a bigger need at NT then RB.

    Been so busy lately...

I think we are going Cody, personally, with AJ signing Thomas Jones and/or Chester Taylor to the backfield with Sproles...and drafting a RB like Gerhart or Blount in the 3rd+ round. Or Mathews in R2 if he falls.

I would be shocked if we go to a 4-3, as it would severely weaken the skills of Phillips and Castillo (speed and strength, respectively) and there are good MLBs out there to supplement our 3-4 scheme (Morrison is a Charger by training camp, book it)

This means we're either going after Terrence Cody or swapping to a 4:3 defense

loosing jamal tells me two things. THat we may play the 4/3 alot more. And that they are retooling for the long run.

Johnson, Castillo, English, Bingham would be our edge rushers.
